After getting close to day Zero, we had a week of rain, snow and cold in the Western Cape.
I dont think I have ever experienced this wet conditions.

It gets warm but only up to 26/27. We about the same altitude as Joburg so there is very little humidity. There is usually rain in the afternoon which cools things down nicely.
Ok, I thought it got unbearably hot. I remember 1 year we went to Inhambane in Mozambique in July/August, when we left it was freezing in SA, when we got there, it was late 20's to early 30's C. Awesome.assfly wrote: Thu Jul 16, 2020 6:48 amIt gets warm but only up to 26/27. We about the same altitude as Joburg so there is very little humidity. The coast can get quite uncomfortable, as well as the northern regions. But the climate in the central highlands is magnificent. I totally understand why so many poms settled here after WW1 and WW2.handyman wrote: Thu Jul 16, 2020 6:54 am Ok, I thought it got unbearably hot. Cheers. Hot weather I can deal with, it's the humidity that kills me.assfly wrote: Thu Jul 16, 2020 6:58 amThe coast can get quite uncomfortable, as well as the northern regions. I have been living in Malmesbury for 15 years.
The jail break last week surely would have been scary for the little town. Some of the bandits entering the High school premises.

Ja we need to enjoy the last day of winter. Summer will be great. If weather permits I try my best to walk along the beach daily, summertime i love getting wet in the surf.assfly wrote: Mon Aug 31, 2020 9:48 am Crazy to think that's the same place that will be basking in summer heat in 4 months from now.
The rain has delayed our opening by 2 weeks. Can't get thr ducting through the roof of the mall because you need 3 days for the waterproofing to set and we just are not getting it. One day rain, one day sun....asked the landlord for a 2 week extension on our free month. We ger sun from next Monday so this week all we can do is focus on administrative issues. Have staff in place but can't start training until equipment is in place and can't place equipment until extraction is sorted. Landlord popped around for a look today...hopefully he gets a favorable agreement from his partners. Otherwise we must just kak and betaal.
All electrics, wet works and plumbing finished. Missus is still sorting out decor . She doesn't want to relocate her office until the workers are out of the shop so that's also an issue...shame. She really has a tiny office. Business is great at Steel-line. Thank goodness for that. Basically funding my wifes shop till she starts getting an income.
We decided to go the more expensive route of tvs for the menu board. The beauty is that changing the menu board is very simple and you can mix it up with some tunes, promotions and visual media. Digital is definitely the way.

Cheers Chilli...the excitement of creating this is fading as the frustration sets in. The blessing is that our signage outside the mall should be done this weekend. We have sourced great buns and all the suppliers are pretty much signed up. All the photography of the products is done. All the equipment is connected up and ready to fire up. Alarm and CCTV cameras went in yesterday. Branding for the doors is ordered. The front counter looks amazeballs. My lights I made are going in tomorrow. Missus just needs to get the menu designed for Mr D. Otherwise the journey is almost at an end....
Lockdown....whats that...our minds have been properly stimulated during this time.
We finished the insurance yesterday and we came in under budget at 550k which is fantastic.
