They say that those that always harp on about money are those that are envious of others for having it.....You lot had first bite of the apple but the absolute stupidity of the Stormers faithfull to not address the elephant in the room that is Zelt Marais has landed the Stormers in a very uncomfortable position of standing in front of SARU with their begging bowl and taking pot shots at the Unions that are better run.![]()
Better run, how many years do it take to coach someone how to tackle?
You know....we are good like that.
But anyway we have a stand in captain , Kolisi , our national captain....he will be ok.

Dan du Plessis last time cut their midfield at will. Not your Marius Louw or RJvR type of dumb basher.

Willemse is going to do more damage to that $hark$ backline, specifically if they keep Curwin Bosch.

A bit of nostalgia for the day. Back in the S12 days when the Sharks and the Reds were deadly. Andre Joubert, John Eales etc. This was the best comp to watch.

Nohamba joined the Lions.
Yeah, he needed a change. He was playing very poorly lately.
Gutted that we are losing Nkosi. I'd love to know the real reason why he's going. It can't be lack of game time, if he's fit he starts.
But very happy that we've got Vincent Tshituka. We haven't found a replacement 7 since JLdP left. Nice looking backrow of Kolisi, Tshituka and Buthelezi.

I think we've got a good crop of loosies, which we'll need depth in for next season. But so far nobody has owned that 7 jersey. Henco Venter and Bholi have both been ok. Noa was a terrible signing. Venter and Richardson are 6s. Labuschagne looks promising. So I think it's a signing that makes sense.Sards wrote: Mon May 09, 2022 12:31 pm With Vincent joining the SHARKS there is a lot of loose forwards depth. Wonder who is getting the boot

Very chuffed at this signing. He reminds me a lot of Juan Smith. All round action man.
I feel very bad for the Lions though. They are raided every year and have to rebuild. It'll keep on happening until they find an investor with some clout.

It's this salary cap. Plays havoc. Sadie is from Bellville. Very good acquisition.
Fuck know why you lot poach the Lions.
Fuck know why you lot poach the Lions.
The scrum is a very powerful tool to gain territory through penalties. Heaven knows WP used it for ages . Outstanding strengthening of our resources. Especially with the new tournament now a reality. I feel for the Lions. But the reality is that if your side is not part of the new tournament you are going to look for a team that will be taking part. You can't blame the Sharks for snapping up SadieOomStruisbaai wrote: Wed May 11, 2022 2:48 pm Sadie is from Bellville. Very good acquisition.

Sadie is going to make a huge difference through the 3 tournaments. Sharks will definitely have the strongest scrum throughout the 3 tournaments. We are already one of the strongest in the URC.assfly wrote: Wed May 11, 2022 1:22 pm Another day, another signing by the Sharks.
Carlu Sadie. Can't say I'm thrilled with it; I think our current crop of props is sufficient. I guess he must have been looking to leave Joburg for the thriving metropolis of Morningside.

Sadie is an excellent acquisition. To compete in 3 tournaments we'll need depth everywhere. We need a franchise flyhalf and maybe another centre and outside back. I'm thrilled with what Masotti and co have bought to the Sharks. They're bona fide big hitters with front side tickets to the NBA.

He is an improvement on Boeta/Curwin/Argentine. Must be kicking themselves letting Libbok go.
Happy to see Cronje back. Sure, he's played for his fair share of clubs but he was pretty good for us and I was disappointed to see him leave. Will hopefully mentor Boeta over the next couple of seasons.
Not really. Libbok was not a good signing for the Sharks, just not the right fit. He's playing much better for the Stormers than he ever did for us. Glad to see he's found his mojo with the right team.OomStruisbaai wrote: Mon May 16, 2022 7:13 pm He is an improvement on Boeta/Curwin/Argentine. Must be kicking themselves letting Libbok go.

No matter what the Sharks do there will always be criticism and reference to $. The reality is that there are absolutely no flyhalves around to secure locally. Libbok has looked good for the Stormers. Who knows why. Maybe he has Very few options left after the Sharks and knew if he didn't pull up his socks he would be out of a job. Good for him. He never inspired me with confidence at the Sharks or Bulls. I would never think of him as a Springbok.
Lionel is very experienced and runs the backline well.
I was so disappointed when he left. But here he is back again. Let's hope he is available soon.
They are nurturing him. He is back in the CC and failing to make an impression there.Chilli wrote: Tue May 17, 2022 5:41 am I don't understand......................Boeta is a very talented player. Instead of nurturing him they go and buy 2 journeymen to play above him.
If he wants it he has to play for it.
Bosch would probably move to the bench to cover 10, 14 and 15. Well that's my ideal. Who knows. Maybe this is what the Sharks need to grab top of Saffer conference and third place

Cronje is a very experienced and reliable flyhalf. He'll be a great foil to Bosch and Chamberlain. And they'll learn a lot from him. It's not possible to recruit a star flyhalf. They're too valuable. Best you can do is to have a steady hand to guide a couple of young guns. I don't think Bosch has the temperament but Boeta does. They'll release Curwin soon if he doesn't step up.
He's also very young. I've no problem with a returning player coming in for a couple of seasons to mentor him and provide backup.Chilli wrote: Tue May 17, 2022 5:41 am I don't understand......................Boeta is a very talented player. As for the Argie. I don't think he's necessarily been given the opportunities to prove himself. SE seemed intent on pushing Bosch back to the starting lineup at his expense. I would have liked to have seen him given a string of URC games to get settled.
The Argie has done nothing to impress and lots to not like. He was a bad buy. A real Titassfly wrote: Tue May 17, 2022 7:58 amHe's also very young. Good flyhalves don't exist in South Africa. Libbok has come through for the Stormers. He hasn't imploded like at the Sharks yet.....but you just know it's on the way. If it doesn't I will be happy for him. But there is very little to choose from besides him at the Stormers. All the other potential flyhalves have failed spectacularly. So nothing to buy there. There is that Cheetahs flyhalf but he is still new. Give it another season. That's the sad realityFalseBayFC wrote: Tue May 17, 2022 7:30 am Cronje is a very experienced and reliable flyhalf. Name one. The last world class flyhalf we had was Henry Honiball. All the rest have been deficient in some respect. And that includes Morne Steyn. He never played in a game where they beat the All Blacks.OomStruisbaai wrote: Tue May 17, 2022 3:30 pm How de fuck can you say good flyhalfs don't exist in South Africa?

Correction. 1 August 2009 Morne scored a converted try and kicked 8 penalties to beat the ABs. Scored all of the Boks 31 points.

There is a difference between good enough for the Sharks and world class World class is the best in the world, good enough for the Sharks or Curwin Bosch/Lionel Cronje/Boeta Chamberlain.FalseBayFC wrote: Tue May 17, 2022 4:18 pmName one.
