Private Eye has been on his case for a while now.
That's been the worry for the UK. All this uber corruption and external state influences and still a huge constituency alright with it.
Ja that's the biggest issue. As soon as there's industrial scale corruption like we're seeing, something awful has already progressed past the point of no return. What then needs to happen is people vote for the other party no matter what their politics are, as long as they're cleaner they should be supported. Because what's at stake is the entire system, it's beyond party politics.
But there are places (mostly in Africa) where that doesn't happen. The same party just keeps going, people keep voting for it no matter what. There's many reasons why, picking only some: The ability of ordinary people to take a massive amount of pain with few complaints, pervasive nationalism especially when there's a messianic mission to it, an alternate reality purposely fostered by elites/media/education system.
The Tories should be polling in the single digits, they're at 33% to 35%. There's an incredibly large constituency for what they've done and will continue doing. It's not unthinkable at all that they could peak for an election and get 40%, which is a huge majority in the UK electoral system. And if they manage that, they can do it again.
