There is also the fw 189Niegs wrote: Tue May 10, 2022 3:31 pm I didn't realize the Dutch had planes like this, the Fokker G-1 Mercury. I never paid attention to prototypes and thought the first two twin-fuselage planes were the p-38 and p-61.

The FW189 wasn't Dutch.
I was referring to the twin-fuselage concept, of which there are quite a few planes preceding the Lockheed ww2 gems.
Those are twin boom not twin fuselage aircraft. It's been around since the start of aviation

Has that been colourised?
Did Mosquitoes have the brown/green camoflage at all?
The Aussies used the green and brown camo in Borneo so seems possible. A quick search brings up this

RG Poulussen is a decent follow on Twitter for this sort of stuff. Dutch historian who's written a few books on Market Garden. Posts a selection of captioned photos from various archives every morning.
A playlist of original colour (or that early colourization process where the colour wasn't consistent?) footage of liberation of several towns in Netherlands. Looks like some Canucks asked: "Say, how many people can we fit in a Bren Gun Carrier?" Answer: "Yes!"

Again, I'm thinking she's like...

Yeah the door gunner/loadie hangs out the door usually. That said the ramp is barely open there.Niegs wrote: Sun Jan 08, 2023 2:45 pmAh, good points. It's one of the most famous French air force squadron.
Clostermann is one of the most famous Aces with 33 Kills but the Normandie Niemen Aces are very numerous and the History of the squadron is epic.
Marcel Albert 23 kills
Roland De La Poype 16 kills
The mechanics were Russians and the Airplanes too. Stalin gave the Planes to the French at the end of the conflict. you can see some in the musée de l'air.
Iirc those frenchies had the pick of any allied fighter available at that time, and chose the yak3 for being small, robust, and a dog fighterlaurent wrote: Fri Apr 07, 2023 10:07 amIt's one of the most famous French air force squadron.

Perhaps this thread should be merged with the aircraft one ?
