A thrilling final 10-15 minutes with Argentina's last gasp providing merciful salvation for the credibility of the upcoming alleged 'Rugby Championship' ...

Well played Argentina, never gave up.
Yeah. Thought we were fucked when he kicked it out on the full.Blackmac wrote: Sat Jul 16, 2022 8:56 pm How many times has Price fucked us with stupid mistakes at crucial times in games.
Kind of a ‘here we go again’ moment.
And are there two g’s in Bugger Off?
Agree, it was completely nonsensical. The chat about giving players valuable international game time in this instance is bollocks, the team needed a winweegie01 wrote: Sun Jul 17, 2022 8:36 am Eight changes is where that game was lost. OK, a couple were forced, but why unsettle winning side.
The usual Scottish ability to make mistakes and wrong decisions at critical times just compounded it.
Rowe's injury is apparently serious.

The thing that really annoys me about that game is that it was the basics that cost us the series, lineouts and restarts
These have been issues for Scotland for years
I don’t really care about the decision to not take the 3, the loss didn’t happen there, it was the systems that broke down in the two areas mentioned
Anyway, Kinghorn has grown this week, Darge looks very much at home, Bennett must be in serious contention when Harris is back in the squad
Gray needs to up his game, Skinner Cummings and Gilcho are our best locks at the moment and I’d take Hodgson, Young and Sykes as their back up ,

Pretty much in front of the posts.Torquemada 1420 wrote: Sun Jul 17, 2022 9:12 amOnly had a match tracker on this one. What TF was the deal with the pen that would have taken the lead out to 7(?). Was it kickable?
The really annoying this was that they pulled off a brilliant lineout ploy (similar to the one against Ireland a couple of years ago) and Gray stormed through and somehow got held up, so really close to working. It’s by the by really though, they should have taken the 3

Yes it was. They went for a maul and got held up.Torquemada 1420 wrote: Sun Jul 17, 2022 9:12 amOnly had a match tracker on this one. What TF was the deal with the pen that would have taken the lead out to 7(?). Was it kickable?
I have no idea what they will do with the back row when JR is back. He was edging world class when he got injured but who the hell do you drop out of the 3 that started last night? Darge will be scaring the shit out of any video analystsTichtheid wrote: Sun Jul 17, 2022 9:20 am The thing that really annoys me about that game is that it was the basics that cost us the series, lineouts and restarts

Just watched the game.
Proper test, fair to say Argentina are back in the mix.
Scotland are cruising towards a bottom half 6N finish and a group stage RWC exit. With the talent at their disposal that’s pretty dismal and I’m staggered Townsend isn’t under more pressure.
Also can we hear less of how Anglocentric BBC coverage can be? The sky coverage of this has been borderline unwatchable, you’d hardly notice Argentina were playing.

I'm with you. Take the 3 and force them to score twice to take a lead. Unless it's a must to win by a margin or increase try count.Slick wrote: Sun Jul 17, 2022 9:54 amPretty much in front of the posts.Torquemada 1420 wrote: Sun Jul 17, 2022 9:12 amOnly had a match tracker on this one. @weedgie, thanks for the info
Slick, it'a amazing how far Darge has come, and to think Connor Boyle was counted as being ahead of him for the U20s and at Edinburgh, hence it was him who moved to Glasgow and Boyle stayed.
Boyle has taken longer to find his feet at pro level, but he is finding them. Bradbury moving on should provide more game time for Boyle and Crosbie, maybe Crosbie should be looking to move on, then again Big Bill won't be at Edinburgh for too much longer I shouldn't think, he's 31 in October and the big pay day won't be around for too much longer.
I know these aren't like for like players, but the back row at Edinburgh is ridiculous, and we have Muncaster and Kunavula with Rudi Brown coming up on the rails.
The thing with Ritchie is imo, he is the closest we have to Peter O'Mahony, a right royal pain in the arse for the opposition and a very good line out operator too (to be fair though, Old Moany is one of the best line out stealers in the game, so whilst I'm not making a direct comparison, Ritchie is a very good jumper)
Ritchie walks straight back in, Darge to the bench as he covers more options. Unfortunate for him.Slick wrote: Sun Jul 17, 2022 9:56 amI have no idea what they will do with the back row when JR is back. It's the worst possible time to be looking for a coach, as Glasgow are finding, everyone is waiting until after the World Cup.
I just hope the SRU don't repeat their mistake and promote Mike Blair too soon, Toonie should really have gone to a big French club first, before becoming the big cheese at Scotland

Darge has ten years at least ahead of him, Watson is 30, having said that you start the best player, irrespective of age, but for me that is still Watson.
