A couple of issues that may be of interest on the fringes of USA politics.
Watch out for the return of Palin in Alaska and a possible Democrat being elected in the mid terms. This may happen witj the Republicans vote being possibly split.

The other big bombshell is the startling drop in life expectancy especially in native Americans and Native Alaskans.
It really quite startling really. I think life expectancy for native Alaskans now is the same as the 1947 life expectancy for white Americans or something similar.
I'll try and find the source.

"after a process of elimination in Alaska's new ranked-choice voting system catapulted her above the 50% threshold needed to secure a victory."

Better voting systems really do benefit moderates stopping extremists. Get really pissed off with parts of Labour not being keen on changing the voting system. Much prefer the Scottish and Welsh voting system to fptp. A ranked voting system would have made a huge difference last election.

Trump.
The former leader of the world's biggest economy.
The orange twat who's going to jail soon.
The person who thinks he should be taken seriously.
Who thinks he is, and should also be the next POTUS.

You're better off without it Gumboot. A childish video trying to make fun of Biden about election stealing. Just what you'd expect from Trump (any one of them) really - mental capacity of a squished snail.

Interesting... same as the Australian system they call 'Preferential Voting' where your voting slip allows you to number the candidates by preference and those votes flow on as individuals are eliminated.

Yep, having followed the links to a short description of the system, pretty much the same as preferential voting.

Twenty-eight of those empty folders were found in Trump’s office, while another 14 were in a storage room elsewhere, the document shows.

And FBI agents found more than 10,000 government documents and photographs without classification markings, the filing shows. Among those were hundreds of photos and news articles, along with gifts, clothing, and books.

The bombshell revelations raise the prospect that the DOJ has not yet recovered the documents that would have been in the empty folders.

The DOJ is investigating possible crimes related to the removal of those and other government documents from the White House when Trump left office in Jan. 2021.

By law, such records must be turned over to the National Archives and Records Administration.

It's going to get increasing hard for anyone in the GOP to come out & pretend there's a defense for this.

I'm pretty sure that it's an offense, in itself, to mutilate any classified document, like removing it from its folder; & of course, everyone is now asking where the fucking contents of these folders is ?, & the shitgibbon can have no defense that doesn't mean admitting to further, more serious criminal offenses !

"I tore them up & flushed them down the shitter."
"I lost them."
"I gave them to the Russians"

You can see why the DNC is demanding a damage assessment; because, who knows what was in these folders?

It's not really surprising; the First Nation peoples were absolutely devastated by Covid, & the support for them was non-existent. I made a few donations to one Charity working to support the Navajo, & Hopi people, & the stories were terrible.

I mean, by and large they're just out of sight, out of mind. There are just too few of them for it to be worthwhile for political actors to appeal to Native American issues.

So few they'd number more than the populations of Vermont, North or South (or indeed North and South) Dakota, Wyoming, Alaska, Delaware.....

Because if those things don't matter you'd hope people would be campaigning to subsume those states into places that matter, reduce the amount of governance and whatnot

Well oddly enough we don't apportion seats in our legislature by race.

Not like Vermont or Wyoming's concerns are anywhere near the forefront of the national mind anyway -- nor even those places' existence. Hell, half the time when I tell people out here I'm from Missouri, I might as well have said Zanzibar: a blank then quasi-bemused expression crosses their face as their Twitter and Netflix-addled brains scramble to retrieve the meaning of a word not heard since a 4th grade geography quiz. Even (especially?) "educated" people routinely mix it up with some other flyover state that starts with M.

Nevertheless, I've noticed over time that you guys love to kvetch about the little states like those you've listed, but a lot of the little states are among the nicest in the union, rather than being ungovernable monsters like California, Illinois, etc. We should have way more states tbh.

Cheers

I do miss humid midsummer days by the river, air so thick you can cut it with a knife...it's not hard to find places where you can't really tell civilization is nearby, and you're basically able to see what the rivermen and explorers saw at that time. When I was a kid I used to like to pretend I was Lewis and Clark. I grew up only half a mile from the Missouri River and a few miles from where it meets the Mississippi.

(The song Shenandoah refers to the river actually, only a small part of which is in the state, but all good)

The DOJ have served their appeal, against the Florida Judges decision to allow a Special Master, & they aren't taking any shit i!

They're using the opening to force the issue on whether, or not, the material seized were actually declassified, or not, & challenging another set of shitgibbon lawyers, to lie, & destroy their careers, or admit the lies & bullshit.

I see Bill Clinton's pursuer, Ken Starr has died.

I was aware he was a raging hypocrite for having an affair during the hearings, and represented Epstein (such Christian morals) but I didn't know he was fired from Baylor University for covering up the rapey antics of the football team and others.

This is what’s happened to America in just two short years. No respect! However, a good time for our President to get to know the leaders of certain Third World countries. If I were president, they wouldn’t have sat me back there—and our Country would be much different than it is right now!

The cavalcade of cretins that make up the shitgibbon legal team, are really playing a blinder down in Florida

They got their choice of Special Master, because the Feds knew a proper Judge when they see one; & now their choice has asked the obvious first question; & asked what documents are Classified, & what ones has your client De-Classified !

.... to which; there's no answer that can be made, without either perjuing themselves, or destroying any possible defense, so they refused to answer ..... which leaves the Judge one choice; no disagreement on the status of the documents, work on the principle that the status of the documents is as presented, i.e. Classified, then the Prosecution is justified in its position, & 99% of the documents are, as they appear to be, not subject to any review, & are Classified ..... & it won't take long to review the handful of Un-Classified documents.

It's been long-investigated and mooted, and now Letitia James has finally pressed the button - The Donald is being sued by the NY State Attorney General for 'systematically misstating the value of his properties'

Well that's Eric fucked !!!

Weisselberg is a cooperating witness, & in a Civil case, a jury can take an inference from witnesses taking the 5th, so all the evidence will be on the States side, & just stone wall silence on the defendants side. The shitgibbon is as popular as smallpox in NY, so I'd say they're fucked !

And then the Feds, & IRS will clean up whatever is left over, after NY gets their $250M, & kicks the scum out of the State

[Edit] Just thinking, if Melanoma doesn't want to get stiffed, she'd be well advised to file for divorce now, & make sure that any settlement is approved by the Courts, before the IRS, & NY take it all, & she, & the sprog get nothing, (or what feels like it, after having to deal with being fucked by the Orange horror for years).

But, but, but..

Another Witch Hunt by a racist Attorney General, Letitia James, who failed in her run for Governor, getting almost zero support from the public, and now is doing poorly against Law & Order A.G. candidate, highly respected Michael Henry. I never thought this case would be brought - until I saw her really bad poll numbers. She is a fraud who campaigned on a “get Trump” platform, despite the fact that the city is one of the crime and murder disasters of the world under her watch

And but. And but...

Attorney General Letitia “Peekaboo” James, a total crime fighting disaster in New York, is spending all of her time fighting for very powerful and well represented banks and insurance companies, who were fully paid, made a lot of money, and never had a complaint about me, instead of fighting murder and violent crime, which is killing New York State. She is a failed A.G. whose lack of talent in the fight against crime is causing record numbers of people and companies to flee New York. Bye, bye!

And,and,and..

The New York Times: “Her (Peekaboo James) case against him could be difficult to prove. Property valuations are often subjective, and the financial statements include a (very strong) disclaimer.” Thank you

Fucking loon!..

Whatever is the stage beyond schadenfreude, I'm there !

One of the US talking heads said several weeks ago, that; "every day from today, will now be worse than the day before", for the shitgibbon.

Never a truer word spoken !

Today the Special Master, that his brilliant legal team demanded, & the one they suggested, has come out & said that he wants to be done by the end of October, so won't get the long drawn out process he wanted, & in any case the lost appeal means that the Feds are free to proceed with the criminal investigation.

But more important; he has ordered the shitgibbon, & his lawyers, & staff, to give sworn affidavits of the accuracy, & completeness of the inventory for the documents seized, within a week !!!

So now he has to either break the habit of a lifetime, & tell the truth, or perjure himself.

This is what happens when you steal, & you lie, & then hire the shittest bargin basement lawyers to defend you.

The obstruction of justice case here has to be the easiest case in the history of the US legal system.

The Judge also made it clear that the Bill has to be settled promptly, or he'll flay the orange cunt .... or legalese to that effect
