Can't think why the FA would want to cancel all grassroots football when all other sports (apart from horse racing) are taking place.
It also seems likely that there will not be enough police available next weekend to cover Prem and EFL matches next weekend.

Yeah it is a bit strange. Would understand some games being off in London and even Edinburgh at preparation work begins for the massive policing operation ahead.

Even horse racing being off is strange. The Queen loved the horses and would have been anice mark of respect.

Absolute chaos in Edinburgh. My mate is a tour guide and everything has been cancelled. A lot of guests in hotels and guest houses on and around the Royal Mile getting kicked out and moved to other hotels and even Glasgow. Seems totally OTT, but I had seen some of the Op Unicorn plans previously and always thought them a ridiculous overreaction.

I can appreciate it's a living nightmare to administrate at the proverbial drop of a hat, even if plans are laid well in advance, but evicting hotel guests is pretty rotten.

We were debating whether to take the kids by Holyrood to lay some flowers, don't really want to be one of the wailing horde but I think it's important for the kids to acknowledge something significant has occurred.

Me and the wife are debating the same.

I've been deliberating whether to go and see the procession passing through here or not. I've heard they're expecting 200 000 people to turn up, can't be hooped with a crowd like that.

Balmoral to Edinburgh by car is circa 2h30m, this is taking 6 hours.

More importantly, the roads are closed down, nothing is going past the cortege. Imagine a rolling roadblock travelling slowly down the M6 / M1 and the chaos it would cause.

At the speed they were driving it would. They were doing about 30mph. The train would have been a decent option.

Me and the wife drove into Edinburgh from Fife to pay our respects. We stopped at Barnton Junction to wait and there were probably 2-3000 people on a small stretch of road. Bridges, fields, verges, roads were all being used along the route to get a vantage point. Was a good turnout for her.

The train would have been dangerous as well. Can you imagine the thousands of people lining the stations, level crossings and all the reds? While all the other trains are going past as well? Nowadays a flight is the only option.
