I'd need to watch it again but in real time I think that was just awful refereeing. Awful. Might have saved Fosters job too.

I think he was within his rights, but on the other hand he wouldn't have penalised that at any other point in the game, so it's a bit bollocks.

Aussie still should have kept them out, though

It is the inconsistency. If you're not calling it in the 1st 77min then you shouldn't in the last 3. It didn't seem especially egregious IMO.

There is a kind of sweet karma about this - when a player goes into a static collision targeting a vulnerable area - possibly intentionally. And when the result of that could have very well been a career ending injury on an opposing player - then yeah......while mystified at the ruling - I have a smug sense of satisfaction with it.

The kick must be taken within 60 seconds (playing time) from the time the team indicated their intention to do so, even if the ball rolls over and has to be placed again. Sanction: Kick is disallowed and a scrum is awarded.

The penalty was awarded at 78:24, and the scrum awarded at 79:04.

There are no lengths to which Foster will not go to keep the job. Including handing out Rolexes.

That refers to a shot at goal?
Law 20.5 states a penalty or free kick should be taken without delay. Not that I agree with his decision.

Law 10.7.d also suggests the sanction for time wasting is a free kick.

Aussies are always whinging about their injury list. Every team always has key injuries. Sometimes more than others, but you're rarely substantially worse off than anyone else and no one ever gets the mythical first XV out on the pitch these days. It's just the modern game, if you don't have the depth then you won't win and hold

Strange game this. The Aussies have Nic White to blame for that.

After today I feel comfortable for the Springboks playing this two in a WC final.

The ref was good.

The All Blacks defense wasn't even close to the previous test. The Wallabies broke their defense at will. I thought the Aussie backline was pretty good today. It was the yellow cards and dissipline that cost them.

Watching the replay you can see a couple of the backs yelling at Foley to kick it - in fact Foketi is screaming at him.

You don't like to see it - but Foley has to hold his hands up on this one I think. The timewasting was pretty ridiculous.

Thought the Ref actually explained it pretty well - although I don't know if the award of the scrum was right or if it should have been a free kick?

Needless to say it will rumble on for quite a while.

Springbokke will have to go for broke on saturday. This will force RasNaber for running rugby.

Yes. Our lot had to adobt to the NH refs. It took a few big losses but in the end it works. Both the All Blacks and Wallabies will need to adjust. Nic White attitude is the last thing you want.

You weren't robbed - you didn't play the ref right. And the time wasting was pointless. Kick it out, win the lineout, hold it in, kick it out, win.

Strange that some players in your team were screaming at Foley and reacted with an almost 'I told you so' attitude.

It was dumb play - you have a right to be dirty about it - but you weren't robbed.

Great win by the All Blacks.

If only the Australian supporters were as gracious in defeat as they are in winning.

Grace and and a South African. Last time I saw that was my Grandfathers old mate. Craven. They were old mates played against each other in 37. Looked up each other in London during the War. Kept up to their death. He wasn't to keen on the new Springbok either if you know the Doctor.......

Boet honestly many Saffers felt the same in that first Test against the Boks. I never agree with them. Professional players must play the ref. I couldn't believe the Wallabies fight back. It was awesome to watch. This All Blacks team is far from the past sides.

I enjoyed watching that, at work with our FD who is an Aus.

I thought we were stupid to not take that penalty for the draw,. And I was nearly proved right.

However it all ended up rather deliciously.

Reading stuff online earlier I was under the impression that there had been an absolute howler. Watching it... not so much. The Aussie players are screaming at him to kick it, so clearly the message had got through to their players. And the amount of timewasting that goes on in the last 10 mins of games has reached ludicrous levels. I don't mind it.

Ja sure. The SH refs let the game flow and isn't that much whistle happy. So it's about adopting to the ref. The professional coaches and players study the refs but the supporters blame the ref iso his own players.

 Sure you get my drift.
