Roger Federer goooooooooooooooooooone!!
I'm not a huge fan of tennis but he must be the mens GOAT?
He will always be the best for me. Just so natural and amazing shots with skill, not huge biceps or unnatural spider legs, mentioning no names.
“It was a pet, not an animal. It had a name, you don't eat things with names, this is horrific!”
In full flow he was wonderful to watch, one of the few I could happily watch over a whole match.Snooze wrote: Thu Sep 15, 2022 3:49 pm Depends if all you count is majors. Then no. Always my favourite player of modern times, and certainly, to me, the most likeable of the big 3.
And . . . one handed backhand with sublime volleying skillz. Real man.![]()
Always thought he was a bit of a dick though to be honest

"In an era of specialists, you're either a clay court specialist, a grass court specialist, or a hard court specialist... or you're Roger Federer." - jimmy Connors.

But this is why I might still consider Fed the GOAT, even without the major title record. I think Nadal has about 11 at the French. So dominant but so one dimensional for all those years.
And I have never warmed to the (possible) juicer and anti-vaxxer so I couldn't vote for him.

GOAT for me.
One of the lovely things to come out of this has been the pretty close bond between him and Rafa.......2 giants of the game who have a genuine affection for each other.
Those 2 are the modern day standard or player, professionalism and personality.

Was a bit surprised, just read that of 40 matches between the two, Nadal won 24. 14 of those were Grand Slam finals, of which Nadal won 10.
