ust finished watching a replay of the Hungaroring race...
Ferrari... just what the hell?
Pull off a masterful overcut for LeClerc to pass Sainz and gain the lead, showing good pace and with the field all looking like one more tyre stop at least with coldish conditions giving the mediums the best times and the one guy on hards going backwards....
so they pit Charles for hards and he goes backwards.
Jesus.

I guess this is how fans of anyone but Mercedes have felt for last 4 or 5 seasons.
The Red Bull is so much better than any car out there. Ferrari is incompetent, Merc is a snail and evey other car is a second slower in race trim.
Just give the arrogant sh*te the championship and hopefully the new set ups will not be driven by the designer for red bull.

I see Red Bull were happy to finish behind the Safety Car today. No sign of Horner demanding that the Race Director should let them 'go racing' this time.Thor Sedan wrote: Sun Sep 11, 2022 1:17 pm I guess this is how fans of anyone but Mercedes have felt for last 4 or 5 seasons.

Further to Alex Albon’s diagnosis of appendicitis on the morning of Saturday 10 September, he was admitted to San Gerardo hospital for treatment. He underwent a successful laparoscopic surgery on Saturday lunchtime.
Following surgery, Alex suffered with unexpected post-operative anaesthetic complications which led to respiratory failure, a known but uncommon complication. He was re-intubated and transferred to intensive care for support.
He made excellent progress overnight and was able to be removed from mechanical ventilation yesterday morning. He has now been transferred to a general ward and is expected to return home tomorrow. There were no other complications.
Alex’s full focus is on recovery and preparation ahead of the Singapore Grand Prix later this month.
Alex would like to thank the excellent care and support he has received, including from the nursing, anaesthetic and ICU teams at Osperdale San Gerardo – ASST Monza, the FIA medical team, his Performance Coach Patrick Harding, the Williams Racing team and Dr Luke Bennett from HINTSA Performance.

I was no fan of how last season ended, but Horner said straight after this weeks race that the preference is to always finish racing and he thought there was plenty of time in order to get the car off and get back to it. Safety Car fark up picked up Russell rather than Max.Lobby wrote: Sun Sep 11, 2022 3:01 pmI see Red Bull were happy to finish behind the Safety Car today. I'm losing interest in the circus now...
there's too much talk of dropping historic circuits for new deals... the Kyalami clusterfuck shows how poorly some of these deals are set up while the push for more US content (and race deals with compromised street circuits) is a massive turn off. It seems to run parallel to the Netflix driven rise in interest within the US with the attendant lack of knowledge or awareness that brings within that new fanbase. I mean... a painted fucking marina FFS...
Then there's the Ricciardo issue. Here's a guy who the paddock respects as a talented and quick driver struggling with a car that seems quirky at best, being handled poorly by a race day team that gives him poor strategies and a manager who naturally employs that US style of talking it up bravado that rings hollow and false the more you hear it. I like Danny Ric so I'm being pretty subjective on that but it's hard to generate enthusiasm for the sport when so much of it is stage managed bullshit being steered more and more into a US flavoured product.

If you take off the Aussie specs and view Ricciardo more objectively, the view is grim. He's lost whatever mojo he had years ago and there's been a steady decline ever since he left Red Bull, it's just unlucky (and very expensive) that McLaren were the ones holding his contract when it completely collapsed. Lando Norris has shown that there is a very decent time in that McLaren car if you know how to drive it and the fact is that Ricciardo just can't adapt. There's a slim chance that Williams might hire him but it's unlikely and if he takes a sabbatical from F1 then I can't see him getting back in.
Regards the US, I'm not sure why Laguna Seca isn't being uprated to get F1 accreditation. It would be incredible watching F1 cars go through the corkscrew.
edit: Laguna Seca is far too short for F1.

Why has Alonso not been given a decent drive for years? Everyone talks about him being the best, most natural driver of the generation etc but he only seems to get offered shit cars. Is he a bit of an arse?

The older he gets, the better he was

Also, being easily equalled by Hamilton in his rookie year and then trying to blackmail his team probably didn't help.

Yeah, no real surprises there. Just one more dud Canadian left, then.
Stroll is the only one on the grid who really grates me. That voice! And he sounds like an arse to his team. Tsunoda not much better but is immature.Guy Smiley wrote: Fri Sep 23, 2022 8:56 pm Yeah, no real surprises there. Just one more dud Canadian left, then.

Stroll can deliver an ok single lap but he's got no awareness or long pace, as a rule. The number of times he's caused a crash or near miss through not watching his mirrors is reprehensible. Daddy's money. Tsunoda doesn't really bother me... he's on the learning curve as you say.Mr Bungle wrote: Fri Sep 23, 2022 9:37 pmStroll is the only one on the grid who really grates me. That voice! Mick Schumacher is an interesting case... he seems to have found a bit of spark as the season has progressed and he's come under pressure for essentially under performing. He's made some nice moves including a brave overtake through Eau Rouge last time out... but he hasn't set the world on fire.
I find the continuing hype for drivers from the lower classes like F2 or Indy a bit sad when considering Mick's lacklustre showing so far. There's an expectation among some fans and media that Driver 'A' will automatically be the Next Big Thing simply through getting a drive. The aptly named Piasco is a case in point... Piastri is now under massive pressure to perform and deliver pretty much from the word go.
I wonder who gets the Williams seat? Nyck de Vries? Can the F1 world handle a second Dutch driver exciting the orange clad morons even more?

Toto's shameful behaviour this weekend should be sanctioned. cunt.Max Verstappen's 2021 world title 'stands'
A document shared by F1i, via journalist Alexandre Braeckman on social media suggests that Christian Horner was telling the truth. Red Bull are supposedly set to receive a negligible fine for a minor budget breach of around £100,000. That means no points deductions and Max Verstappen's 2021 world title stands.
As for Aston Martin, they were allegedly found to have breached the budget cap by a staggering £4million, which has seen them hit by a 100-point penalty, split over last season and the current campaign.

Gullible isn't in the dictionary.
100 point fine for 4 million overspend... so for a 100 thousand overspend we divide that by 40 and get 2.5 points. I think the whole grid would accept 1 point penalty per driver...Insane_Homer wrote: Wed Oct 05, 2022 12:15 pmToto's shameful behaviour this weekend should be sanctioned. cunt.Max Verstappen's 2021 world title 'stands'

Absolute scenes from Suzuka...
race started under heavy rain although not too heavy for a grid start,
as the first lap proceeded the rain intensified,
various spins and collisions ensue including Sainz spinning into the barrier after aquaplaning,
very lucky to not get hit by other cars but Gasly's car collected a piece of hoarding from the barrier that draped itself over his nosecone,
he pits to remove it and change tyres... then the SC is called.
While Gasly hurries to catch up with the pack under SC, he almost collects a fucking TRACTOR trolleying along on the left of the track.
holy shit

Looks like they are going to try and do a Belgium again; a two lap ‘race’ and then award half points.Guy Smiley wrote: Sun Oct 09, 2022 6:03 am Absolute scenes from Suzuka...

7 years ago Jules Bianchi died at Suzuka after colliding with a recovery tractor due to spinning off in the rain, under a YC.
That resulted in a crackdown on the positioning of those recovery vehicles and a supposed change in how they were activated into use...
the politics of a shortened race seem a little secondary to the concerns surrounding a potential incident involving a crash between a race and a support vehicle.
Suzuka is a high speed track that gets a lot of standing water on the surface when it rains heavily, as it is today. Safety is the priority... not entertainment.

It went to red as Gasly was coming round the corner into that straight. He wasn’t in the right, was speeding under double yellow.
But the tractor being in that position is fucking criminal.
And are there two g’s in Bugger Off?

So Verstappen is declared champion although no one knew because none understood the wording of the rules…
And the stewards made a decision about LeClerc being penalised for a last lap, last corner slip without speaking to any driver after taking 3 hours to exonerate Perez for a clear breach of the rules last time out.
F1’s a clusterfuck.

F*ck Max arrogant twatstappen and his self entitled shithousery.
F*ck Mercedes for being completely rubbish in the development process.
F*ck Ferrari for being absolutely useless as the next best challenger.
This has been hands down the worst season of F1 for an age. Even when Merc were in their pomp the races were offering some intrigue.
