Rassie gone for 2 weeks due to his recent Twitter escapades.
Good riddance, should probably be longer given that he's only fairly recently finished a ban.

Posted in the SA france thread, but will post it here too, here's his pathetic response, deny all responsibility and try and claim what he was posting was absolutely not about the ref:sockwithaticket wrote: Thu Nov 17, 2022 8:03 pm Rassie gone for 2 weeks due to his recent Twitter escapades.

Absolute coward.

Ugh, that's a real piece of shit statement.
Q.E.D.
Massively disappointed he only got two weeks. Considering he's just back from an 15 month odd ban, clearly is not in any way repentant or going to change his behaviour at all. Frankly should be a minimum of 6 months. Or ideally just excommunicate the cunt and be done with this pathetic bullshit!
Plenty of Saffers are also dicks and have a huge inferiority complex against the rest of the world.

SA Rugby Mag is just as bad as Rugby Pass.
They also put out this
Not if you look at those replies on Twitter. I accept we all have our opinions on refs but given his influence his behaviour is a stain on the game. For a big man he has a very small character.
Still one of the best but I think Pearce maybe?

I like Pearce. Top two I think...
I'd rather have either of them on Saturday than Raynal, even though they are English!

Realistically it was always going to be an Englishman

Rassie is a disgrace and he's letting down the Springboks badly here. Barclay's description of him acting like the kid on the playground who in response to being told 'stop touching me' stands nose to nose with the other kid but technically not touching him is the most apt description I've seen.

Probably all of them. He’s a truly terrible ref. Inconsistently picky. Does not ref a good game. He’s certainly not an Owens.
He sways from reffing one side heavily during one half to another in the second half. Probably to balance pen count. He seems to think he’s composing a drama Where he’s the central character.

He's had some shockers alright, but I think he's a good. Bit of a chip on the shoulder, but you don't ref >100 games without being a good ref tbf.Ymx wrote: Fri Nov 18, 2022 9:05 amProbably all of them. He’s a truly terrible ref. Inconsistently picky. He must be... I liked Owens too. But I like Barnes.. he's always tough at the start of games so players know to not fcuk him about... end up with cleaner rucks... I like him... apart from 2007 of course...Raggs wrote: Fri Nov 18, 2022 9:07 amYou're trolling right?Ymx wrote: Fri Nov 18, 2022 9:05 amProbably all of them. He’s a truly terrible ref. I didn't mind Owens for a while, but his last 3/4? seasons, he just reffed a mess. Forget England games, I enjoyed the tension he created in neutral games, but you could tell the story of most games so early. Tight games the whole time, decided by a final penalty/try. Rucks were an absolute mess (even when WR had put out the announcement that started cleaning them up a lot). This was in neutral matches, champions cup etc.Grandpa wrote: Fri Nov 18, 2022 9:13 amHe must be... I liked Owens too. I don't hate Raynal, he screwed Wasps over big time once, but that was an awkward law change that hadn't come in yet, but he got it wrong and thought it had (it was to start a week later or something), not going to hold that against him.
Thought Brace and Dollman for the last 2 England games were acceptable enough. Not perfect, who is, but I'm sure if I was a neutral I'd see errors going both ways to balance it out.

No, he’s a dreadful snearing tit. I found this for the first time the other day, which I didn’t even recall.Grandpa wrote: Fri Nov 18, 2022 9:13 amHe must be... I liked Owens too. He was hell bent on permitting this. Listen to the language he uses. Determined to quickly brush over a review of forward pass, possible knock on, or even offside (if not a knock on).
He’d made his mind up on an outcome, and didn’t want to be corrected. Owens trying to help him, but no.
Terrible reffing.
Like I say, he gives Rassie plenty of material.
Cue the calling of sour grapes, yada yada yada …
Nah. I thought Barnes had a good game (like he always does) and I'm desperately ashamed to call Rassie my DOR.Ymx wrote: Fri Nov 18, 2022 9:12 am Lets just say, and I think we agree, he gives a twat like Rassie plenty of material.

Cnut would be sacked by any other nation (except maybe France - "He's just misunderstood, monsieur") because his behaviour is just pitting WR and more refs against the Boks every weekend. Moron management.

The RFU have contacted the SARU to tell Rassie to STFU.

Abuse of refs is already a problem at lower levels, dicks like Rassie do not help matters.

From the Graun article inactionman posted.
Completely unacceptable and while we know some people would do it anyway, Erasmus is undoubtedly emboldening others and encouraging it.It is understood that the RFU wrote an angry letter to its South African counterparts this week, outlining how Barnes – who was taking charge of his 100th Test last Saturday in France’s narrow win over South Africa – has been subjected to online threats while his family has also been targeted.
Fundamentally, we don't have a game without the officials and with the environment currently being fostered it's hard to imagine why anyone would want to ref at the pro level, let alone international.

If the game in Europe has any administrators left who care about the sport more than cash, this would be the final nail in the Boks' 6N coffin.

We'll pass. 6N is too difficult for us. No more easy-beats. We're going back Down Under where the oppo is weaker.Paddington Bear wrote: Fri Nov 18, 2022 12:58 pm If the game in Europe has any administrators left who care about the sport more than cash, this would be the final nail in the Boks' 6N coffin.
