To many Zebre players.

His mum played for Italy also. And he first came to prominence whilst playing for USAPassfly wrote: Thu Nov 17, 2022 11:52 am Tommy Allan is an interesting one. Born in Italy, schooled in England has a famous Saffa rugby uncle and capped for Scotland U20 to end up playing for Harlequins and Italy.
He went into the Italy side straight out of U20. Can’t say I blame him for going with the country willing to take a punt on him that young.sturginho wrote: Thu Nov 17, 2022 12:44 pmHis mum played for Italy also. His ‘famous saffa rugby uncle’ was also capped for Scotland (having been born in Scotland and I think went to uni here too?)

It'd be remarkable, if after losing 32 matches in a row; Italy were to win 3 in a row against Tier 1 Countries !

Thank fuck it isn't Adamson.
Too concerned about the influence of the ref. Worry rather about the Italian team.
I swear there is more talk about the refs than the Italian players.

Nothing to see there. At least I am not thinking there is a ref conspiracy against the Sharks and the refs are the reason we lose. That's next level Rassie

I think the most suitable punishment would be to place him in a locked room with a public webcam on him. Allow him free use any social media but with a connection that keeps dropping. I’d pay good money for that.

True. Moved out to SA when he was 8. He did become quite a Saffa though and a real Durban boy. Played 11 years for Natal. My daughter was in the same class as his at school in Durban.Simian wrote: Thu Nov 17, 2022 8:10 pmHe went into the Italy side straight out of U20. Oh apologies. I put famous saffa Ruby uncle in quotes just because it was a term someone had used to describe JA earlier in the thread. It wasn’t at all meant to denote sarcasm or skepticism or anything like that!FalseBayFC wrote: Sat Nov 19, 2022 10:29 amTrue. Moved out to SA when he was 8. My comments were really just adding to the comment that Tommaso Allan’s situation is a relatively unusual one and flagging up that he did have a very real link to Scottish rugby that led to his caps for Scotland U20s.
There was some ill feeling up here about him switching allegiance to Italy after age grade rugby. Personally, I don’t blame the guy at all and would have done the same in his shoes.
As an aside, I actually remember his uncle getting booed at Murrayfield by some fans who felt he was taking a spot from a ‘properly Scottish’ player (quotes intended to denote sarcasm and skepticism this time!).
I can kinda understand not liking particular aspects of the eligibility rules (whatever form we’ve had), but have never understood blaming players for it. Literally a case of ‘hate the game, not the player’, imo!
