Your team and fans are a disgrace and we’d all be better off without you. I don’t quite know how we pick up the pieces of the sport you’ve left behind
It's a slow day at the office, so let's see just how disgraceful other coaches and fans have been recently.

He raged, he swore, he sarcastically applauded the match officials. He even became entangled in a verbal spat with an England fan.

The Welsh referee has a public social media account on Twitter, which has become the target for hundreds of French fans who were upset about the nature of France’s narrow loss to England at the weekend.

One contributor to the Bebo page said: "He [Barnes] should be hung so we can see him piss his pants wen he's shaking in mid air..." . The same supporter says: "We should put him in a lions den...with no clothes on.....then get a top sniper and sniper him on the head."

Alleged homophobic and racist abuse by England supporters towards the referee, Nigel Owens, during the defeat by New Zealand is to be investigated by the Rugby Football Union
Right, no one is saying only saffers have a pop at refs. However, England fans and media consistently criticised Eddie for the comments he made, likewise other nations with their coaches. From my perspective, and there’s no reason you’d check out the England thread, I’ve pretty consistently had a go at English players going on at the ref. As mentioned before I’ve reffed myself and ended up deciding I couldn’t be bothered after a three week period where:
- a Dad of an Under 13 followed me up and down the touchline for the entire game going on about every decision almost without taking a breath.
- at the encouragement of their coach an Under 15s side started yelling ‘how much are they paying you?’ At every decision I made, because I’d pointed out at half time he had, deliberately or otherwise, been undercounting the opposition’s score on the board
- in a loser goes down last match of the season, with the hosts four points down, I reversed a penalty in the last minute for the hosts’ 14 running in from 30 yards away to land a haymaker after I’d blown my whistle. I was followed off the pitch and into the changing room by the home team and the club chairman offered me the usual post match pint having clearly spat in it.
I never reffed again and I’m told things are getting *worse*, driven by what is happening in the pro game.
The game needs to be harder on it full stop.
What is happening with SA is an order of magnitude different to what happens in the rest of rugby, and if what happened to Barnes and his family is just being shrugged off I do wonder what happens next.
John Barclay put the saffer attitude to this best when he compared it to telling a kid on the playground to stop touching you and said kid staying millimetres from your face going ‘I’m not touching you’. This is basically what’s happening here. If you like what Rassie is doing, own it, don’t pretend it isn’t happening.
It all also reminds me of the siege mentality Brendan Venter created at Sarries, Rassie has created a conspiracy to try and motivate his players and sod the consequences. The Venter, Griffiths et al siege mentality nigh on destroyed the club I’ve supported all my life and I am worried what it is going to do to the wider sport now.
