Daughters are away at a music festival in Plett. I'm with parents in KZN. Will be a very quiet braai with the oldies and will be hard pushed to make it to midnight. One of my nephews arrived yesterday from the Wild Coast with a dozen crayfish and a couple of nice fish he speared so New Years Day we'll have a lekker seafood braai.

Just me, the missus and our son.

Son and I playing some sort of Rugby+soccer+wrestling combination ball game.

Some Frisbee+wrestling combo game.

Chatting, listening to music.

Some weird game invented by son and I, in which the goal is to hurt each other in a creative way. Only rules are: pain may not last for longer than 1 minute. Marks may not last longer than 30 minutes. "5-star" on upper leg = first prize,

Braai.

Spliff (depending on mood).

Movie/s.

Sleep. Not necessarily after midnight.

* Laughter compulsory for all of the above except for last part.

Special rule for 31/12/2022: No New Year salutations.
2019: Got plenty from everybody. Result:2020 = worst year in human history since 1945.

2020: Got plenty from everybody. Result: 2021 = worst year in human history since 2020.

2021: Got plenty. Result: not as bad as preceding 2 years but definitely still kak. Nothing "happy" about it at all.

Proof; Pentagon admitted to the existence of UFOs during preceding 3 years and nobody cared.

Sister in law and family with us, local pub @ 16:00 for early dinner with the kids and grandma. 3 of the kids then off to house party before heading off to the nightclub in the wee hours, so epxecting the "can you come pick us up call" ~ 5am

Hoping to be in bed by 10pm but unlikely.

The sprog returned to Auckland yesterday, so all on my lonesome tonight. Here's hoping 2023 is a bit better for everyone, although I've been hoping that for a few New Years now without much luck...

Will braai some smoked pork rib with my Boet and neef in Worcester. Wanted to drive back to Ashton but Mrs and broer don't want it.

Not use to it but looking forward to the rugby.

Good luck. My kids gave me a hard time over the years at Oujaarsaand. That's when they lost all sense and got drunk.

I love playing guitar into, and roasting people's faces off this time of year.

You would think they would get bored after the 12th time of me playing mixolydian mode legato style, in B, Lydian mode in G and and whatever relative minor pentatonic scale I can pull out of the bag.l...but after about 40 minutes I start to look fo r whatever weird outside chromatic notes I can get my hands on ( Guthrie Givern style)..

...and try not t sound truly shite.

Quiet NYE with Ms GL. Stuck our heads out at midnight last year to wish the neighbours HNY and all the miserable ffycers were in bed. Or was there a party to which we weren’t invited?

Went to bed at 10pm. Didn't hear a thing at midnight - woke with cramp and had a piddle at 4am - went back to bed until 6.30am.

Great start to the year. Recommend it

So I have my Oz Shiraz decanted into a jug and by mistake I tip the remains of Ms GL's Albarino into it. What am I to do it? She seemed surprisingly relaxed about it.

Me too, must've had the heating on too high for this mild evening

Have you considered shoving them up your arse?

A friend tells me this is most enjoyable.
