Bit harsh, oom Jake almost died on an operating table this season, hasn't been with the team much.Sandstorm wrote: Sat Mar 04, 2023 4:37 pm Lucky Coetzee!!! Lions hang on to win 29-25
Bulls really need a new coach…..
Lions are looking decent, not a contender for the title, but are they in with a chance of top 8 if results go their way?

Too organised from Leinster. Edinburgh again quickly running out of ideas and simply unable to match Leinster on their drives.

It's like that grudging respect everyone had for McCaw. That ability to be canny enough to cheat just this far, but no further .... again, & again, & againweegie01 wrote: Sat Mar 04, 2023 5:55 pm You can't help but admire Leinster's ability to have a player on the wrong side of the ruck just long enough.

I know some like him and think he can develop, but I honestly don't see much in Savala, particularly as a 10.

Just really can't have those poor kicks against Leinster, will eat every time. Feels like the game, so now to watch Aberdeen inevitably lose to the Jutes

I suppose he looks at all these kids & feels a real sense of satisfaction that he's leaving the team in good order !

He's had a decent run of starts recently and his lack of kicking game has been a big issue.TheNatalShark wrote: Sat Mar 04, 2023 6:10 pm I know some like him and think he can develop, but I honestly don't see much in Savala, particularly as a 10.

Dragons just pressed the self-destruct button. In the space of 20 seconds, they get a YC for a cynical offside in the red zone, & red for a shoulder into the head of a player, off the ball; & all of this with it 10 -10, & they're well in it

10 -10 HT in Newport. Connacht very wasteful, & Dragons digging deep with very little possession.

20 - 22 FT in Newport.
I lost count of how many butchered opportunities Connacht left out there. Dragons showed some real heart, & but for a DG that hit the post, they'd have won, & deservedly so.
I'm afraid not getting the TBP will be costly when all is said & done.

Aye saw that, no surprises they did it well before the game so they could be embarrassed in peace due to their small turnout. Honestly don't see why they didnt go to the game and tape together a large fuck off banner, but then I guess they are hard of thinking/too much effort.OomStruisbaai wrote: Sun Mar 05, 2023 4:55 am

On the one hand I have heard it said that when he drops down to the level below pro, he looks like that is his level, whereas other pros who drop down look a class above. On the other, I had not realised he had never played union until he came to the UK. 10 is not the easiest position for someone to learn as an adult.TheNatalShark wrote: Sat Mar 04, 2023 6:10 pm I know some like him and think he can develop, but I honestly don't see much in Savala, particularly as a 10.
There is certainly a commitment to him being developed. He's had this run of starts in clear preference to Van der Walt, who might have his limitations but has been a reliable pro in the league for Edinburgh.weegie01 wrote: Sun Mar 05, 2023 3:17 pmOn the one hand I have heard it said that when he drops down to the level below pro, he looks like that is his level, whereas other pros who drop down look a class above. Congratulations Stormers. No surprise in the result, at least we put up a fight at the end. I see Wright signed-off the match with a signature fuck-up
I really think Williams could turn into a special player if he sorts his kicking out. Hopefully he'll use the break to focus on it.

I was quite happy with that result. That's our B team and we just ran out of time to clinch the match Considering the roll we were on. I think the ref and TMO made some game changing decisions which could have changed the game. That Werner Kok penalty was a complete joke. It really looked like they were looking at one team at that point and completely ignoring the kak that Fourie was making.assfly wrote: Mon Mar 06, 2023 5:44 am Congratulations Stormers. I expected to lose by plenty but we just lost that. Looking forward to this weekends matches. Cricket permitting. I think the under 15s are done. Not sure the under 10s. My youngest went in at number 9 against the All Rounders academy on Saturday. He ran out of partners after hitting 5 fours and a few singles to make 23

Just for the record
STORMERS RETAIN SOUTH AFRICAN SHIELD
The Stormers have been confirmed as the URC South African Shield winners for the second season in a row following the weekend’s derby action in the Rainbow Nation.
John Smit. Williams is coming back too to complete the puzzle. Next year is our year.
We just need the right coach

Whilst Plumtree has picked up additional experience I'm going to be weary if he comes back. By most of what I read a lot of input into the Hurricanes performance in latter half of decade, but the time with NZ under Foster... well have to hope it really is just down to Foster.

Plumtree was crowbarred out because the Sharks fell flat the last few seasons under his reign. It was ugly, tough to watch rugby and at the time everyone was happy to see him go.
We haven't had a coach for a long time. Still competitive. Imagine what a proper coach will bring. Hopefully Plum is hungry. Was a time when WP were head hunting him before he went abroad. I think his major issue was his interpersonal skills. He's done a fantastic job at the Pumas. Heart on the sleeve type of coach, his players love him. Don't know how the $harkS $uper $tar players would respond to a coach like him, or how he would respond to a new international environment like the URC or HC. In fact, the more I think about it, the more I think that would be a bad decision for both parties.Chilli wrote: Tue Mar 07, 2023 4:31 am Step backwards for the $harks methinks.
They should be giving someone like Jimmy Stonehouse a chance.

Competitive Sards? Is that what you call it? With the players and resources at your disposal you should have won the whole bloody thing.Sards wrote: Tue Mar 07, 2023 5:15 amWe haven't had a coach for a long time. Still competitive.
