2023 Six Nations
Yeah it was very odd. Whilst the second Italian was legal he only had the opportunity because of the illegality of the first.Big D wrote: Sat Mar 18, 2023 1:37 pm Nige feeling sorry for Italy there. Being off your feet and stopping the 9 playing the ball is always given as a penalty.
It is.
Both sides needing the win for different reasons might be putting too much pressure on themselves. Both are short of their best players too without the quality in depth.
For me this week is just about winning.

That pass followed by a not straight in the line out really illustrating ASMO's point.

Italy just keep butchering chance, after chance, after chance .....

What are these Italian chances you speak of?fishfoodie wrote: Sat Mar 18, 2023 1:50 pm Italy just keep butchering chance, after chance, after chance .....![]()
Until we have two Urc teams with an all-foreign halfback partnership how are players like Fusco expected to just step in and do a job at international level against vastly more experienced opponents

You can't fault Italy's ambition, but their skills let them down too often, but as said above, they've too small a pool of players
If Italy end without a win you still have to say that over 5 matches it’s the most competitive they’ve ever been. They’ve sorted out their open play pens, defence is good, stopped dropping so many balls. They still need to work out when to kick or not and find some better attacking lines but they are better.

Before this game you were at -50 and they were -48, so it's certainly a possibility that a win for them does condemn you to the wooden spoon after all.

Italy do get ridden by the refs but yet again they have failed to execute their opportunities and yet again it has stopped them winning a game they should have won

I'm not sure they get ridden as hard as people like to say. Because they are the underdog and won 1 6N game in 40 or whatever it is people focus on what goes against them rather than looking at what goes for them sometimes.Paddington Bear wrote: Sat Mar 18, 2023 2:20 pm Italy do get ridden by the refs but yet again they have failed to execute their opportunities and yet again it has stopped them winning a game they should have won

Also massive moral victory for the only side to have beaten Italy comfortably - England
