Was just saying in the Scotland thread that he is one of those refs that coaches his way through a game. It’s honking and it’s infuriating in equal measure. If you see an offence then blow your whistle ya daft prick, that’s what it’s for. Otherwise shut your trap unless there’s something the players need clarity on. Let them make the calls and take the pain if they are wrong.Wyndham Upalot wrote: Fri Apr 14, 2023 8:25 pm We haven't been given anything by this ref ... looking forward to home advantage in 2 weeks time
Totally agree. Why should indisciplined teams be helped out by the ref?KingBlairhorn wrote: Fri Apr 14, 2023 8:28 pmWas just saying in the Scotland thread that he is one of those refs that coaches his way through a game. I agree, and I don't dispute that the Warriors were the better team tonight. I'm just disappointed that some of his decisions were made in a nanosecond without taking into account the dynamics of the ongoing play - and yes, that definitely affected both teams.KingBlairhorn wrote: Fri Apr 14, 2023 8:28 pmWas just saying in the Scotland thread that he is one of those refs that coaches his way through a game. It was Wayne Erickson that started this "style" of reffing. Constantly chatting to the players. Bring back a Jim Fleming type ref imhoKingBlairhorn wrote: Fri Apr 14, 2023 8:28 pmWas just saying in the Scotland thread that he is one of those refs that coaches his way through a game. Indeed. Why should players be warned about e.g. getting offside or be told whether or not the ball has been passed back into the 22? Let them work it out for themselves.Achahoish wrote: Fri Apr 14, 2023 9:15 pmIt was Wayne Erickson that started this "style" of reffing. Constantly chatting to the players. Exactly right. It has become part of the defensive system now to get offside and disrupt knowing that if you then throw your arms up in the air you will just be told to get backGogLais wrote: Fri Apr 14, 2023 9:18 pmIndeed.
