If he goes to the trouble of writing essays and finding links, I’m just being kind and quoting it back to him.
It’s Friday so mandatory training day looking at videos on bribery , how one of our factories sources ethical water , what a warehouse is…. You can imagine how much attention I’m spending on it !

Increasingly. Hysterectomies too. Some young people genuinely don't want kids.GogLais wrote: Fri Apr 14, 2023 9:16 amOh teeth now, since about 1985. Do people still have vasectomies btw?

As far as UK goes, I can't fathom any reasons why.GogLais wrote: Fri Apr 14, 2023 8:35 pmReally? Good grief.sockwithaticket wrote: Fri Apr 14, 2023 3:25 pmIncreasingly. Hysterectomies too. Absolute mystery, what better place to raise a child than your 4 person flat share of £950 pm? Think of all the free childcare!
I get that of course but denying yourself the opportunity to have any children in the future seems extreme. But I’m not in their position.TheNatalShark wrote: Sat Apr 15, 2023 8:05 pmAs far as UK goes, I can't fathom any reasons why.GogLais wrote: Fri Apr 14, 2023 8:35 pmReally? And some people do take all the dire warnings of scientists about climate change very seriously.
I'm not currently in a position where I have to make a choice about kids, but I'm at an age where it probably should be spoken of early in any potential partnership to see if we're compatible and to make sure no one's wasting anyone else's time. I'm still very torn as to whether it would be a good idea to bring a child into this world given our inadequate attempts to mitigate, let alone reverse, climate change. Whether it's drastic migration caused by decreasing habitability of certain countries, continuation of catastrophic insect decline and the implications for crop growing or ever more random weather disrupting traditional growing. It might yet be that some really bad decades hit in my lifetime, let alone those of my potential kids.
Then there's our apparent inability to stop wealth from concentrating into fewer and fewer hands plus the increasing drive of the corporate overlords to make sure no one owns anything just make do with an endless series of rentals and subscriptions. Increasingly it feels like we're headed to some form of neo-feudalism unless there's some sort of revolution and those are rarely anything but chaotic and bloody. What a future!

For example, the tacit model city of the UK is London, where the mean multishare apartment age is 30 closer to 31. It's not conducive to baby fever, the effects of birth control on women is being more widely understood, for all the wants of the rights abortions really aren't popular and the cacophony of other reasons some gone into by socket above.GogLais wrote: Sat Apr 15, 2023 10:30 pm I get that of course but denying yourself the opportunity to have any children in the future seems extreme. From a 30 year olds perspective in the UK, an unexpected pregnancy could be double life ruining because there is so much doubt and so little hope for the future at the moment. Present an increasingly obtainable "out" of all those... particularly with ever bettering tech in freezing, in vitro, etc...

Won't someone think of the people whom have had 30-40 years of voting power to change things?EnergiseR2 wrote: Sun Apr 16, 2023 10:08 am
That graph is unnecessarily devisive and typical of millennial and Zoomers. Home ownership has fallen for pretty much everyone including the poor old generation x'rs that no one gives a fuck about
They can wipe their tears with their silver plated DBS and 110% LTV mortgages that they "thank God I didn't just miss the boat"
Those lines seem to fall after Thatcher left power.TheNatalShark wrote: Sat Apr 15, 2023 8:05 pmAs far as UK goes, I can't fathom any reasons why.GogLais wrote: Fri Apr 14, 2023 8:35 pmReally? Good grief.sockwithaticket wrote: Fri Apr 14, 2023 3:25 pm

It was inevitable if there were more and more people buying and hardly any new housing stock getting built.
