The lottery money still went to charities it was just charities related to the coronation which you wonder about. King Charles and his acolytes have tried to make Monday a national volunteering day to be fair but it's gone dreadfully and very very few people havs signed up. There's fewer volunteers now than ever in the UK because society has been completely ripped of community spirit. A number of factors go into that but increasing inequality and politicians turning everyone on themselves is mostly the reason.Tichtheid wrote: Sun May 07, 2023 8:07 am I read in the letters pages of one of the dailies that food banks have lost out on lottery funding because it had been diverted to coronation celebration projects.
My wife is a trustee of a small charity which helps people who are really quite desperate, they are the ones who have slipped through many nets. The charity is finding it very difficult to access funding at the moment as there are so many more applicants.
I half watched it, it was really an odd spectacle. I don't think there's many coronations of that scale left. Especially as Christianity continues to fall in the UK there was too much God bothering ongoing. Oh well, Penny Mordaunt looked exceptional so there's that.
