We went to the movies a few weeks back to watch Guardians.
Parked in local Horizon Parking associated with it, as we have done many times before (it used to be free parking, now they charge but the cinema provides a discount)
At the end of the movie, they hand out barcode slip to scan to get discount parking. I take one, scan it, I select my Reg from a list (so no typo) and it says to pay £1. I pay £1 via tap and pay on my phone and my bank App Chase registers the transaction, but their machine is very slow confirming so after a few mins we walk to the car, to be sure, and I am not sure why I decided to, I screenshot the transaction confirmation on my phone.
A few days later and my bank reconciliation is out by £1. No idea why. Eventually, figure out the £1 is missing from my bank app transaction list. I call Chase and the guy says the transaction was cancelled so it's not showing anymore. He sends me confirmation via text that the £1 charge was cancelled later that evening by Horizon Parking (exactly 8 hrs after I paid).
This is odd, so I go all proactive and via the contact page, raise a query with Horizon - asking them if this was a mistake and to confirm I would not receive a PCN as a result.
Today I get an email reply to that query stating that I do have a PCN (which has not been received in the post) and I should pay them £25.
I have clear proof I paid; I have further proof it was them who cancelled the transaction. This is blatantly fraudulent!
I'm now going to play them at their own game and send the fcukers and invoice for all the time wasted.
Me thinks local paper, and MP are next on my to-do list.

Yup!

I have an Excel going back perhaps 15 years that has every single transaction I have done via bank or card. Cash is just a lump sum however but since I rarely use cash any more, that is not as important.
Goes back to when I first left home, left the Borders and went to London. All on my own. Got into debt and somebody said, track what you spend. And it really does help. 40 odd years later, still do it. Just a habit now but I still fear debt.

Due to using a non-dinosaur based bank, any reverted transactions show up on my app in red. My 'reconciliation' involves scrolling through my transactions for 20 seconds every week or two.
