The French group for the world cup in SA
note Gailleton and Bielle Barré are not going as they are in the Senior Group, let's hope they get selected otherwise they will miss both world cup.
Probably about where England U20's are at present. Think they won the first of these two matches by a similar score in Georgia
Except there appears to be more head in sand stuff by those running the game in England. Take this for example:SaintK wrote: Thu Jun 01, 2023 3:17 pmProbably about where England U20's are at present. Think they won the first of these two matches by a similar score in Georgia
Be lucky to get out of Pool B depending on how Fiji play and how good Australia are!!
Hopefully with a new coaching team and a little more interest from the RFU we might get back to somewhere like were a few years back. Not holding my breath mind.
Inside England's talent factory

it's been a few years they have poor results, is this the same coach ?
I can't recall his role exactly, but I understood he essentially dismantled what had previously been a relatively successful coaching and youth setup.laurent wrote: Fri Jun 02, 2023 8:54 amit's been a few years they have poor results, is this the same coach ?
Generally the correct approach tbf.
Quite! Wielded the axe that destroyed a pretty succesful pathway system.
His older brother was one of the few England players to actually enhance their rep this 6N. U20s Chessum is definitely a little bit spikey, but I'd say it won't be long before we see him alongside his brother in the senior England side.EnergiseR2 wrote: Fri Jun 02, 2023 10:47 amAll joking aside I quite like the look of him. Think he's the captain? Has a bit of bite and I reckon he'll make itlaurent wrote: Fri Jun 02, 2023 9:04 am to be fair the red headed second row / captain looked rather dull against the French . Maybe there is also some lack of talent too.
Have we merged with the US now because we're both crap?Tichtheid wrote: Thu Jun 01, 2023 3:17 pm U20s Trophy comp.
Pool A
Canada/USA
Scotland
Uruguay
Zimbabwe
Pool B
Hong Kong China (it's how they've listed it on WR site)
Kenya
Samoa
Spain
We had a good cohort when this was supposed to be played in Spain in 2020. Scotland aren't as good now as we were then. We go through a lot of lean years at this level then we get a team comprised of decent players in their second year at U20s and we can just about hold our own against most, but we always suffer up front - that's what led to us being relegated from the top competition last time, we just don't have 120 - 130 kg 19 year olds

Seriously doubt these two will make the cut for the world cup, it's a bit unfair to them but they have been impressive in top 14 and U20 6nations.Margin__Walker wrote: Wed Jun 21, 2023 7:48 pm Ah fair enough. U20 players, rather than necessarily guys at the JWC

Top 14 season being what it is, I assume those numbers are "matches played"Margin__Walker wrote: Wed Jun 21, 2023 6:43 pm French blowing everyone away when it comes to senior experience in their U20 squad.

Maybe THIS is the game where Slevin doesn't look like a back 3 player forced into playing 10?
