I suspect given a history of severe and prolonged depression the individual will not want to be interviewed at present.
Got a link for that? A certain persons mother lives up the road from me in llangenith, but that person resides in Dulwich as far as I'm aware..

The wife of news reader Huw Edwards has named him as the BBC presenter facing allegations over payments for sexually explicit images

In a statement issued on his behalf, Vicky Flind says her husband is "suffering mental health issues" and is now receiving in-patient hospital care

Detectives from the Met Police have ended their inquiry into a BBC presenter and determined there is no evidence a criminal offence has been committed

All I feel about this whole issue is that I hate the Sun, News Corp and Murdoch even more viscerally than I did before. They are a bunch of cunts and will do untold harm to individuals in their quest to down the BBC. Anyone who buys this rag of a paper must be brain dead.

Because all they wanted to do was discredit the BBC and avoid as many repercussions as is possible whilst doing so. They knew there was nothing illegal and they knew their is legitimate no public interest in Huw Edwards being gay or paying for nudes.

Not only that but they've also managed to drag the BBC and other media attention completely away from the failure to comply with the Court Order for BB's WhatsApp amongst other things into the bargain

There is a good interview/piece by him and Alistair Campbell from a few years ago about mental health and depression - I will se if I can find it and post the link. The more odious thing here is that the Currant Bun knew all about his mental health issues yet decided to go ahead the way they did in order to target the BBC as per instructions from Murdoch.

The stated issue is that the Cabinet Office ( in this case in Sunak's interests too) claim that they can't open the phone for examination and ensure the integrity of interests of national security - which sounds like bollocks, as forensic IT experts will have a way to take the data off on an isolated network if necessary, and pass it on to those who need to see it. Seems more like BB and the Cabinet Office are trying to delay and obfuscate while they try to wheedle themselves out of it. You wouldn't put it past BB to have destroyed or attempted to destroy the phone himself.
according to the PA news agency, Mr Johnson's old phone - which contains the messages - is still in his possession while government officials help him try to securely retrieve information from the device.

In pervious roles my wife has had, confidentiality was taken as read and she wasn't any where near state secrets level of work. If she'd broken confidentiality she'd have lost her job and would have had great difficulty in finding another.

There is no way there is a risk from the people who will be tasked with retrieving information from that phone, I simply don't believe it. For one it would be completely unprofessional for them to leak any information and two it would probably involve prison time.

I think you might have discounted parliamentary privilege and political gain in your conclusions, as it is not just about the retrieval it is also who it is then shared with.

I suspect I might well have a mental health episode if I had just been exposed as a sleazy perv to the entire world. I am sorry is he has a history of mental health issues but treated as an inpatient does follow a well worn path and excuses any comment. Also putting his poor wife in front of the media as the one to announce it  poor wife and kids haven't they suffered enough??

There’s been great pressure on him to make a statement and it doesn’t sound as though he was capable of doing so. As far as I’m aware his wife released a statement to the PA, I don’t think she did it live in front of the media. Haven’t seen it on anything anyway.

I really don't appear to be getting this. The police have stated there is no evidence of criminality. The "victim's" own lawyer has said the accusations are rubbish.

And so the sum of this appears to be a full scale witch-hunt and trial by sowshulll meeeejuuhh generated by possibly the UK's worst rag paying the "victim's" parents?

A lot of it must be because of who he is, nobody would think anything of it if he were a professional footballer for example. Of course that’s if he has actually done what he’s alleged to have done - paid for some images.

I'm always sceptical of all this. Band waggoners, wannabe media celebs, Munchausens, money seekers etc often seem to make up a lot of these after claimants in these sorts of cases (Savile etc was children and so a bit different). All I've seen is vague accusations along the lines of "An employee at the corporation told BBC News they received "suggestive" messages from Edwards." Well, if you were concerned about them, why didn't you do something back then?

It's looks very similar to the Farage bank account story, which ran for a week and started dominating all media, even MPs in parliament spoke about it. I think even Sunak said no one should be denied a bank account. All without any evidence of what really happened and if anything happened at all, and without Farage taking anyone to court.

If you're a media owner and your mission is to support the Tories and help them win elections to further your own financial interests, then it's quite a tough time at the moment. They're inventing stories to avoid reporting on reality. It makes a change from 24/7 immigrant bashing.

Tabloids still have massive power despite their readership declining. The rest of the media often just follow Sun and Daily Mail frontpages like zombies. Doesn't make any sense, but that's how it works.

I don't know how circulations are measured but Audit Bureau of Circulations has the Wail down to under 800k (The Sun no longer reports its circulation) which seems a tiny number for how much influence they appear to have.

I think the No abuse of power thing might need to hang tasty as more people are coming forward.
Worried about their or career/being believed. As it is it looks like the head shed circled the wagons. Inspite of knowing of these allegations they handed HE the largest pay rise of all the ‘top stars’ 🤔
WTF are you wibbling on about?

It does worry me that somehow the Beeb is in the firing line ahead of The Sun and the likes of Twatter in all of this.
I hope the Edwards family sue the filthy rag into non-existence.

They're trying to pretend they never alleged criminality, yet a string of quotes from their web coverage read out on PoliticsJOE demonstrates that they quite clearly claimed solicitation of pictures from someone unerage.
