And of course, the best way of preventing the UA from clearing the Orc mine fields, is to direct artillery at any sappers clearing them. So if you can't maintain that artillery, you give the UA offensive a boost.petej wrote: Tue Jul 25, 2023 5:46 pmThe obliteration of russian artillery was always eventually going to hurt. For a couple of months now they've been knocking out approx 30-40 systems a day.

Reportedly, with regard to the downed RU Ka-52 helicopter a couple of days ago, a crew member was Colonel Vitaly Vitalyevich Tabachnikov, the commander of the 112th separate helicopter regiment (military unit 78081), the 11th Air Force and Air Defense Forces of the Russian Federation. This is also claimed

"for free..." meaning grain they looted from Ukraine no doubt
In the coming months, russian federation will deliver 25-50 thousand tons of grain to African countries for free and provide free delivery, putin said during the russia-Africa summit.
We will remind that the russian federation withdrew from the "grain initiative" and is systematically destroying Ukrainian port infrastructure, as well as Ukrainian grain stocks.
At the same time, according to the estimates of the Ukrainian Grain Association, since the beginning of the invasion, Russia took out about 4 million tons of grain from Ukraine.

Not to do with Ukraine, but is this a part of covert RU operations in Africa? Wagner do not have a presence in Niger...yet...
The military announced on the national television of Niger that the regime of the country's president Mohamed Bazoum has been overthrown and the borders are closed, -The Guardian.
"This followed the deterioration of the security situation and unsatisfactory management in the economic and social spheres,"- Colonel General Amadou Abdurahman said in the address.
The former president of the country was noted for his active pro-democracy path, and demanded help from the West in the fight against terrorists on the territory of the continent. He was one of the few African leaders who refused to participate in the Russia-Africa summit.

Hanna Malyar reported on the Day of the medical worker that now up to 82% of wounded and sick Ukrainian soldiers return to the ranks after treatment, and the death rate at the evacuation stage has decreased to 1.35% since 2014

Wonder if this is one of RU's own S-200/300s that misfired - wouldn't be the first time.
The grain terminal russia blew in Odessa contained as much grain as they are "giving" it is peanuts ...tabascoboy wrote: Fri Jul 28, 2023 1:25 pm Hopefully this means the African Union are seeing through RU bullshit

Hersh is very much from the same mould as Pilger, who has been discussed on this thread before. Made his name in Vietnam and has been wrong about everything since with the exception of Iraq. Always seems to be anti-Western, even when it doesn't make a whole lot of sense for understanding a situation. Always seems to end up in a position favourable for Russia, which is suspicious.
I know less about him than Pilger, because unlike Pilger he's never made SA a focus of his (to my knowledge). Which makes me think Hersh isn't entirely dumb, it's foolish trying to lie about a place that's English speaking (where people can argue back) and complex enough that any foreigner is going to be lost without putting in considerable effort.
Not knowing much about him I looked up his Wiki, it's a fucking wild ride, well worth a scan. He's been conducting interviews with Bashar Assad and Hassan Nasrallah (Hezbollah leader). Assad is obviously a Russian client. Hezbollah is an Iranian client, and Iran in turn is one of Russia's few allies. Assad/Hezbollah/Russia are all on the same side in Syria. He's been claiming Assad didn't use chemical weapons, that instead it was the Syrian rebels (opponents of Russia) helped by the Turks (who would've guessed they would be blamed, the Turks aren't the most friendly towards Russia) and others. Then when that position became untenable he made a new claim that there were no chemical weapons used, and all the testing that proved there had been was false. That a 2007 Israeli strike on an under construction Syrian nuclear reactor, wasn't a nuclear reactor. There's more too ... claims that accounts of Bin Laden's killing are false, claims that the US and Norway blew up Nord Stream in a way it seems incredibly unlikely to have happened, claims Iran isn't developing nuclear weapons.
Fuck knows how these people kept getting published for so long in the most prestigious English language publications.
He's either completely insane, or there's some heavy kompromat out there on him.

I think it's a mixture of ideological commitment, narcissism, and senility. Same as Chomsky._Os_ wrote: Fri Jul 28, 2023 4:47 pmHersh is very much from the same mould as Pilger, who has been discussed on this thread before. Full text from 20 tweets + pics at https://threadreaderapp.com/thread/1685 ... 51616.html1/ Chechnya's Akhmat battalions are said to be seriously undermined by lack of equipment and training, low morale, and tensions between their Chechen and non-Chechen members – who comprise the majority, despite the battalions being commonly described as "Kadyrovites".

Kyiv’s long-awaited counteroffensive is portrayed as more successful by enemy soldiers and their cheerleaders than by Western analysts

Don't know how effective these could be, they don't look exactly stealthy, but good for psyops and perhaps one of these could take out a ship, like the Moskva last year...might just deter the missile cruisers they like to use in the Black Sea

This is what they used to attack the Kerch Bridge and badly damage the Ivan Khurs. If and when AFU gets to the Sea of Azov they can basically close it to all Russian naval traffic.tabascoboy wrote: Sat Jul 29, 2023 4:24 pm Don't know how effective these could be, they don't look exactly stealthy, but good for psyops and perhaps one of these could take out a ship, like the Moskva last year...might just deter the missile cruisers they like to use in the Black Sea
