Fakatava and Godfrey bringing huge impact from the bench. That's two in a row the Magpies have pinched at the death.
I definitely did not see the Bay taking that one. Well done, indeed. As you say, Fakatava was an absolute handful for the MooLoo defense.

Nice story Bro. The Bay steal a win here.

I have confirmed by flights and will be in Hamilton on evening of 29th, maybe staying the night of 30th before heading to Auckland. Any recommendations on smallish hotels convenient to city centre and the stadium would be highly welcome. I am not looking for super budget accommodation. My wife insists I stay in decent places.

Damn _ I would have said stay here but son is going through some marital issues and he is here with his 2 kids.

Let me do some checks and I'll get back to you as to which is best.

I know Brumbie Steve and his wife stayed at Novotel Tainui when he was over for some rugby and they liked it. It is about 15 minutes walk to the stadium and in the centre of town.

"super budget accommodation" and "decent places", would have thought these would be mutually exclusive unless we are talking the YMCA

Have a good trip dude.

Looking forward to the NH - Auck game this arvo. Sullivan didn't have a great game against Tasman, but I reckon he'll improve with consistent time at 10. Should be an interesting head-to-head at fullback, with Shaun Stevenson up against RTS.

I’m rostered to work nights that week. I’ll see what I can do about getting some time off.

Canterbury with Moody back, leading 28 - 5 at halftime over Manawatu

Counties v BOP
Difference for me was Steelers' ball recycling was twice as fast as the Steamers' the entire game. Even with the large periods of possession BOP has 2nd half, they really had no ideas and the sub SH just slowed it down even more.

Southland v Welly
That score flattered Welly who are going to be in trouble against the more physical sides unless they can fix that powerpuff scrum.

Canterbury vs Manawatu ended up 68 - 26 but I must admit to being very impressed with the Manawatu midfielders on attack.

Great to see Crotty, Moody, and Romano playing so well

Taniwha doing a superb job on Tasman.

Ended up a large win by 32 - 5 to the underdogs.

I had to go work. What TF happened to Makos? That has to be upset of the season given the margin.

The Taniwha played out of their skins for the entire 80mins, scoring some good tries, but their defense was stunning -- accurate, aggressive, legal, committed, and sustained. I have never seen the team play better than today.

Missed the game. Another tight win to the Magpies.

Their record to date:

Beat North Harbour 23-21
Beat Counties Manukau 25-24
Beat Waikato 35-32
Beat Otago 33-32

Outstanding!

Disappointing margin against an Otago team that has looked dire to date.

Otago today had a real roller-coaster of a game, sublime at times and jokingly bad at others.

Just seen highlights. BOP's luck will run out if they keep playing every game to the wire.

Tasman v Wellington not going to be the game of the round. A rather dour affair with Wellington leading 7 - 0 at halftime.

I just realised that this is a Shield challenge for Tasman.

Manawatu score a 60m try from a turnover and need the conversion to win the game

Nothing like some NPC to soothe the soul after a traumatic start to the day.

Auckland and Hawke's Bay 15-all at HT.

No lucky escape for the Magpies today, with Auckland convincing winners 41-22.

Must confess the main reason I watch all the Magpies games is Fakatava. He's such a creative talent.

Capitalists race ahead 31-19 with 2 quick tries, but the first one was held up, for mine.
