Seems SA govt hasn't signed the global, anti-doping agreement. In extremis, the safas would have to play in plain shirts and no national anthem for the 1/4 final onwards.

You really couldn't make this sh*t up

Not quite accurate.

Even though all the individual sporting bodies including (SARU) have signed and abopted the WADA agreements, our useless govermnet has failed to pass the updated regulations into law...because they couldn't organise a piss up in a bewery.

They can't ensure reliable electricity (been an ongoing problem for 10+ years), they can't transition our national broadcaster to digital terestrial television (been ongoing for 10+ years), they can't do much of anything really, including rubber stamping some new anti-doping regs and just voting it through.

The ministry of Sports, Arts and Culture is probably one of the most useless in South Africa, and given how low the bar is, that is saying something. It's where the ANC puts it's most useless idiots wher they can cause the least damage and embarassment (supposedly) and these cunts just syphon off this budget to jet set from World Cup to World Cup to Olympics to rub shoulders with athletes and musicians and celebrities without doing much to develop sport, or arts or preserve culture.

It comes as no surprise that they fucked up this most basic assignment.

I wonder if Nike will release a special jersey with the Protea emblem on the left side of the jersey removed and replaced with the Bok that had to move to the sleave; if this unlikely event actually happens. I'd actually buy that shirt then. The only reason the stupid fucking Protea is on the Bok jersey is because of these useless pieces of shit.

No need to generalise an entire continent. Most African governments would take offense at being grouped with such a particularly inept government.
