Though I’m not entirely sure if Fiji lose by more than 8 but get a BP.

Is it for and against before head to head? If so, a loss by more than 8 even with 4 try bp would see Fiji packing
Just checked and it’s head to head over for and against.

So it’s either BP needed by Fiji. Within 7 or 4 tries.

Will it be 4 years before Portugal get another game against a Tier 1 team?

WR.......... growing the game :problem:

Best of both worlds. Fiji through and Portugal have a landmark win. Great day for the sport.

Nothing less than they deserved. Delighted for them. Is this Portugal arriving into a rugby nation?

Eng with a bye to the semis now.

Fiji have gotten worse every game
- robbed against Wal
- not as good against a very poor Aus
- very disappointing against Geo
- and clueless tonight

Kudos to Portugal, they're a fun team to watch.

Can't imagine England will be too phased at facing Fiji, their last head-to-head result notwithstanding.

Eddie probably started drowning his sorrows half an hour ago. Oh dear, how sad...

Holy shit, well done Portugal. I put this game on expecting it to be background noise, but fair fuckin' play to them. They wanted this badly and they played so well.

That’s what the WC needed.

Superb stuff. Really interested to find out a bit more about rugby in Portugal now

Sadly not. WR will starve them of any meaningful rugby and they'll get a few crumbs of funding: enough such that Braindead Billy and co have one less inflight whisky.

It was looking like a cripple fight at half time. I was thinking about watching an NFL game instead.

Edit: OK, just to clarify, I was referring to the quality of play, not about each team dominating a half.

The counterpoint to this is being a western European nation they are a reasonably attractive commercial proposition, unlike a lot of their contemporaries

Same time zone and easy to get to. The bigger nations really could send even A teams for games.
