Song you love
A sister thread to the songs you hate one
We hadn't been out for ages, like over a year, we had had our first child and our favourite band were playing in the corn exchange here.
I was in tears as the air pressure from the bass bins thudded into my chest whilst watching the one and only, the very best Southern Baptist preacher come New York artsy fartsy art rocker Jon Spencer and his Blues Explosion

There are so many to choose from...
(PBS is fucking ace
)
Guitar, bass, drums. It's a pretty simple equation... no-one does it quite like these 3.

I get more impressed with Kevin Morby every time he releases something. He comes across as a really nice, down to earth guy who seems genuine in all he does, too. I love this track for the musicianship of his fellows and the moody atmospherics of it all. He credits the band at the end of this track... but the whole gig is worth catching.

Cool# 9 by Joe Satriani.
Love it. Say what you like about Tim Henson, Tosin Abasi style nonsense..but hearing or jamming along to this song (to a backing track)is about as much fun as you can have. Super Groovy.
Got to learn the mad arpegiated, sweep picking descending bit..

Laura Lee.
there's nothing quite like them although I've found a band that sort of come close,
Yin Yin.
Brilliant, just a brilliant song, one of many from Richard Thompson, he's one of my favourite artists.
Nick Hornby included Calvary Cross in his book on his favourites - 31 Songs https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Songbook_ ... rnby_book)
Another big Richard Thompson fan here.Tichtheid wrote: Fri Oct 06, 2023 8:46 am

There are a number of James songs but I'll throw this one in...

Something about the bass and I am guessing open D tuning? Seen him live numerous times - cracking guy.
