That's a pretty big accusation and one that should be investigated quickly.
RWC SF2 England vs Springboks on 21/10 @ 21h00
Disagree it was either a penalty when it happened or it wasn't.Big D wrote: Sun Oct 22, 2023 10:06 amCould have been for a number of reasons. It was a big moment in the game and it was important to get it right. Maybe he wanted to give himself a second in his thought process, maybe he was willing to let it go but felt that caused Koch to go inside at an angle due to his right shoulder being pushed down and realised it should be penalised. The act in itself was small but screwed the whole scrum in the end.tc27 wrote: Sun Oct 22, 2023 9:57 amThe only picture I have seen is Genges knee briefly on the ground before the balls in.Big D wrote: Sun Oct 22, 2023 9:55 am The amount of rugby people and "fan pages" raging that Genge got pinged for angling in supported by a picture of Koch at 45 is laughable considering the penalty was for Genge going to his knee before anyone moved off straight.
If that was something OKeefe thought was a penalty why did he let the scrum go ahead? Or not indicate advantage?
Either way it was the correct decision.
But it all equals out..England diffused the bok mauls by semi illegal means.

When the English coaches were smiling and cheerful after being 9 points up I thought it was over. They looked really confident.

Yeah, assuming he didn't completely make it up, Curry's not the problem here.
Doesn't seem to be on ref mic, so even if it did happen, Bongi should be okay. I doubt there will be any kind of formal complaint from England/Curry.

Old men forget: yet all shall be forgot, But he'll remember with advantages, What feats he did that day
Watched the match again in full this morning, sober and calmer.
On reflection England weren't as good as I felt last night, and SA weren't as rubbish. Both teams looked very limited. That said, a review also brought home more strongly how difficult the conditions were.
If it's dry on Saturday I really can't see SA beating NZ. The ABs are just too good and savvy to go down to unambitious, muscle rugby.

No, no, I mean will Curry have the guts to report Bongi. I mean this lot did the kneeling shite.Paddington Bear wrote: Sun Oct 22, 2023 11:15 amIf Curry had racially abused a Saffer we’d never hear the end of it is I think his suggestion
Curry has obviously already reported it, to the ref at the time and his team management. It's up to them to take it further though if there is no audio evidence it will be one man's word against the other.OomStruisbaai wrote: Sun Oct 22, 2023 11:33 amNo, no, I mean will Curry have the guts to report Bongi. Well this is now in the SA press. SA had no idea what to do against a teams refusing to play against them and actually being better physically (scrums last 20 minutes aside).
Its what makes rugby so fascinating..the worlds no1 side and reigning champions one dodgy OKeefe decision away from being turned over by a coach thats lost at home to Scotland coming up with an almost perfect antidote to their strengths.

Clearly the England of the last 5 or so years loosing to the Scotland of the last 5 or so years isn't a slur on England.

All the money you made will never buy back your soul
It will turn out to be a nothing incident I expect and an unwanted distraction, the Boks use Afrikaans and English for action words, because of the multilingual nature of the side. In the France match you can hear Le Roux shouting "almal chase" meaning "everyone chase", but in proper Afrikaans it would be "almal jaag". This is normal in SA environments where men that speak different languages are brought together (the mines, the prisons, usually it's English mixed with Afrikaans or Zulu). "Kant" just means "side" in Afrikaans. If you've watched much SA rugby or played in SA, "blind kant", meaning "blind side" is something you would've heard. My guess is "white kant" was telling the Bok defence the ball was on the white side of ruck. Cunt isn't a word used much/at all in SA, something like "wit vark" meaning "white pig" would be a go to Afrikaans racial slur.

Lol, I've never even heard a soutie use the word "cunt" never mind some one of Bongi's background. It's just Curry being an ignorant twat and trying to get an opposition player in trouble with the ref, also the British press doing their thing by trying to create controversy to sell papers. As for the "other way around" comment , it seems to be spouted by some dodgy people on Twitter decrying black on white racism, so apologies if I don't take it that seriouslyC69 wrote: Sun Oct 22, 2023 2:42 pmSeriously fecked up comment.

Cunt in Afrikaans is kont. Nobody except Namaqualanders use that word. Agree with Ox explanation.
Curry jou Dom kont

This has sent me down a language rabbit hole.
As far as I can tell 'kant' for 'side' is related to the Latin 'contra' - against. This is from an etymology website:
contra-
word-forming element meaning "against, in opposition," from Latin adverb and preposition contra "against" (see contra (prep., adv.)). The Latin word was used as a prefix in Late Latin. In French, it became contre- and passed into English as counter-. The Old English equivalent was wiðer (surviving in withers and widdershins), from wið "with, against."
Apparently the Old French form of 'country' was 'cuntree' - "from medieval Latin contrata (terra) ‘(land) lying opposite’, from Latin contra ‘against, opposite’."
Fascinating.

I remember the first time I played a side from Vrystaat as a laaitie, lots of well built little men shouting "blind kant" (I was blind side wing). Thinking about it "wyd kant" is also used.
It has been known for Aussie/Kiwi refs in CC/Soup to get upset about players shouting "die blind kant!", thinking they meant him. Maybe BO'K knew the score.
