That's how we felt back in 1992 in our semi final vs England.

I had to Google it
Cricinfo
Cricinfo
Rain interrupted play for 12 minutes with South Africa 231/6 off 42.5 overs and the over limit was reduced to 43 overs with the target reduced by 1 to 252. (The SCG scoreboard and the TV coverage incorrectly displayed South Africa needing 22 off 7 balls, then 22 off 1 ball - the actual requirement to win was 21 off 1 ball)
Chris Lewis bowled the last ball with slow medium pace and Brian McMillan took a single with a push to midwicket
A Duckworth/Lewis calculation under the rules in 2006 would have first set South Africa a target of 273 in 45 overs, and then reduced this to 257 from 43 overs.
I remember it well, Oom. Terrible result. SA woz robbed.OomStruisbaai wrote: Sun Nov 05, 2023 5:21 am I had to Google it

Was very sad but thinking back it was an great achievement reaching the semi final after such a long time in isolation.
After many years of choking we have not a chance winning it.
Maybe send Kolisi over

Strange how it's worked out for SA in World Cup cricket. Such a contrast to how your rugby's gone since re-integration.OomStruisbaai wrote: Sun Nov 05, 2023 6:48 am Was very sad but thinking back it was an great achievement reaching the semi final after such a long time in isolation.

Hansie Cronje made me lost believe in cricket. He was stupid, did a lot of damage to the sport.Gumboot wrote: Sun Nov 05, 2023 7:14 am I hugely admired Cronje as a player and captain. Sad to think what could have been.
Yep, all his self-serving "the devil made me do it" bollocks set the Proteas back years. Probably decades, looking back on it now. But the bookies must've loved it at the time. What a patsy he turned out to be.OomStruisbaai wrote: Sun Nov 05, 2023 7:38 amHansie Cronje made me lost believe in cricket. India destroying the Proteas.
This bowling lineup on this pitch is unplayable.

That the performance we were waiting for, no need to win this one. Chances of beating India twice here is zero. Throw this one, lul them into a false sense of security and then roll them when it counts

We can only wish. India is taking every team apart.
Probably been said already, but South Africa batting first seem to be a very different animal to when they bat second
Batting first -
v Sri Lanka scored 428,won by 102
v Australia scored 311, won by 134
v England scored 399, won by 229
v Bangladesh scored 382, won by 149
v New Zealand scored 357, won by 190
Batting second
v Pakistan scraped home by one wicket chasing 271
v Netherlands lost by 38 chasing 246
v India destroyed.
If we get a SAvIND final and the saffers bat first, it could be interesting

This is a weird one.
As if Mankads weren't shitehousy enough, we've now had the Banglas succeeding in an appeal to have Angelo Matthews timed out.
https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/live/cricket/66859033
Sounds like he was taking his time anyway, but had a problem with his helmet strap and Bangladesh appealed when he requested a replacement. I thought equipment failures would be considered outside of timed out (i.e. he was ready to face, but then the equipment was noted as failing), but apparently not.
I have never seen this before.
