Achilles is tender going down stairs in the morning.
I used to feel pretty invincible. Generally felt I was the biggest and strongest in any room and scared of no person or any thing, which was a useful trait in a cop. Although my new work keeps me fit, I hate loosing the strength and having the aches and pains in my hands and elbows. You also find that you are a bit more wary when you are in a pub or out and about at night, although I don't know if that is just an ex cops sense for trouble.

My first hint of problems due to ageing came at 56. I painted the patio, just as I had done 20 years before, and found it just as easy and relaxing as it was the first time. Woke up to find I'd wrecked my rotator cuff. Was astonished, there'd been no indication of any trouble.
I do have a morning stretch routine and it does make a big difference when I have a good run at it, but currently in a lull….
As mentioned by Tichtheid, I also find Pilates very good

Checked in at 7:30 this morning, had the op at 11:30, got put in a ward at 4pm after being told they wanted to keep me overnight, only to be kicked out and sent home half an hour ago.
The wonders of modern medicine, eh. So now I'm gonna smoke a nice fat joint and then fall into my own bed.

Survived! 15 mins of warm up and then some pretend core exercises - crunchies, planks and leg lifts - about 50% of what I did a few months ago. Foolishly thought I felt ok so did 30 mins of weights but limited myself to smaller weights and shorter reps. Headed for sauna and sat like a beached whale for 15mins. I honestly thought I felt ok ... and then I woke up this morning! Worked out when I can do some sort of shin touches, and some back stretches. Got an electric toothbrush that times off each 30 seconds for 2 minutes. Figure 30 seconds of 4 basic directions at the hips (sides, back and forward), should at least mean I can probably keep tying my laces for a while

Yeah, got a bad calf injury last season playing rugby. Started being really nasty again this season, tightening right up. It's just a bugger to keep going with the stretches/strengthening exercises etc, once things get to an acceptable level for daily life

The single biggest change for me was going Keto. I feel better at 51 than I did at 35 by some margin. Sleep much better, no bloat, lower BP, lost 10+ kg and kept it off. Even the return of morning glory
The aches and pains disappear.
Now also back on the rowing machine this season after a couple of lazy years. 4x a week (Tue, Thur, Sat, Sun) & warm-up , warm down!

A strict goal >10 grams of carbs per day works really well but takes discipline.
Avoid sugars, no potatoes, rice, pasta, bread, fruit juices & most fruit. (but no more heart burn!). I miss bread, sausage rolls and ice cream too.
I was really strict for the first 3 years, was really lazy last year and pretty much back to it now but afford myself more cheats when out and about.
The problem is getting back to it after the little cheats. 1. they add up 2. Breaking ketosis takes 2-3 days to get in it again and the sugars make you crave more sugars.

Look there are advantages to looking older. I was quite amused at first when people would try take over from me when I would do something strenuous.
