NZ hits the lead through a very handy partnership between Southee and Jamieson.

Disciplined knock by Southee. He must be so tempted to go after the spinners.

Mominul quickly cleans up the last two wickets and NZ has a first innings lead of 7 runs.

And just like that, we are all out with a 7-run lead.

That's a great ninth wicket partnership, big difference between a few runs lead and a fifty run deficit.
And are there two g’s in Bugger Off?

It feels somehow odd to be praising Southee for his patient batting in that partnership but the skipper did well.

Uganda beat Rwanda comfortably this morning, and qualify for the T20 World Cup next year, alongside Namibia from the African group.

Lineup for the tournament -

Hosts - United States, West Indies
Top 8 teams from previous tournament - England, Australia, New Zealand, India, Pakistan, South Africa, Sri Lanka, Netherlands
Next two teams in the rankings - Bangladesh, Afghanistan
Europe qualifier - Ireland, Scotland
East Asia - Pacific qualifier - Papua New Guinea
Americas qualifier - Bermuda
Asia qualifier - Oman, Nepal
Africa qualifier - Uganda, Namibia

Zimbabwe fail to qualify for a tournament with twenty teams, they didn’t have to play another full member at any point in qualifying.

Zimbabwe have been given an automatic spot for the next 50 over World Cup, alongside South Africa. The other country that is hosting the tournament, Namibia, has not been given a spot.

Uganda: T20 World Cup qualification 'a dream come true', says captain Brian Masaba

Uganda's qualification for the men's T20 World Cup in 2024 is a "dream come true", says their captain Brian Masaba.

Uganda have reached the tournament for the first time after a nine-wicket victory over Rwanda.

The win means the Cricket Cranes finish second in the African qualifiers in Windhoek, Namibia.

"We're still trying to process all the emotions," Masaba, 32, told the BBC World Service's Sportsworld.

"It's been a long process, a long journey. This is the culmination of a lot of sweat, blood and tears.

"As a team it was a very, very special moment for us."

Uganda will join Namibia, who qualified on Tuesday with a game to spare, at the tournament in the United States and the West Indies.

Anything much over 300 is going to be very hard on this pitch but the BC bowlers are working very hard here.

311/8 now

BCs need 332, and it ain't going to be easy. Tons of time left.

Chasing 300 in a 4th innings isn't something the BCs have built a reputation for doing.

Netflix has never been a thing for me, so will have to take your word on that.

But with all the talent coming through, I wouldn't be surprised if his days in the Black Caps are numbered.

He seemed to be Williamson's successor as test captain, but was overlooked for Southee. Coincidence?

Did we honestly think that the result would be different once we lost the toss?

Probably write this test off as the practise test - no warm up and Banger conditions are even more challenging than India.

Gotta win that toss......

Man, the NZ slow bowlers (some call the spinners but they don't) have been ineffective. When they make up 30% of your team, that's a paddling folks.

Interesting to see Mitchell Johnson take a swipe at David Warner, pretty much saying he's not worthy of a national hero's "farewell tour" given his central role in the sandpaper scandal. Hard to disagree, imho. Besides, Warner had his moments, but does anyone really rate him among Australia's finest ever top-order batters worthy of all the fanfare?

Probably not in the top ten of Aussie openers.

And a cheat to boot.

I don't take to Warner, but it's not much of a dig to say people like Taylor, Langer and Hayden were better as openers. Warner is probably on a par with someone like Slater.

But should someone that level, who was banned for cheating, be celebrated in the way he is?
