Blue Eye Samurai is superb. (Netflix)

Pretty sure I read a while ago that they were shooting season 3 and 4 back to back so should be a reasonable amount of episodes.

Is that not a cartoon ?!
Yes it was excellent

If you haven't seen it, check out Hardy in Taboo. Regency era drama involving The East India Company, the Crown, Hardy doing a turn as a half mad, possibly mystic and definitely up to no good protagonist and lots of hammy but fun acting.sockwithaticket wrote: Wed Oct 11, 2023 11:33 pm Bit late to the party, but I'm finally cracking through Peaky Blinders.
Tom Hardy could act the shit out of a shipping forecast and that Cillian Murhpy fella's not bad either.
But you will need to watch it with the subtitles on as Hardy goes on another of his mumbling growl roles.
Really enjoying Good Omens 2. It's not quite as good as the first one, but good solid fun with some very nice references.
It's old and hammy, but I've been going through the old SG1 series too, sort of background watching. Just watched the episode where there's a production of Wormhole X-treme, a take off of the stargate program, but they poke fun at some of the tropes, asking how come everyone speaks English, and why when they go out of phase, and can walk though walls, how come they don't fall through the floor.

I watched a few of those randomly the other day and was kinda surprised how much I enjoyed it too!Raggs wrote: Tue Nov 28, 2023 5:42 pm Really enjoying Good Omens 2. It's not quite as good as the first one, but good solid fun with some very nice references.

Have seen it, Hardy was extremely enjoyable. Subtitles were definitely required.Hal Jordan wrote: Tue Nov 28, 2023 5:36 pmIf you haven't seen it, check out Hardy in Taboo. It's on my long list of things to watch that the mrs isn't interested in
Not read the books, but understood that Reacher was supposed to be an all american action hero type, massive guy etc, couldn't bring myself to watch any of the Cruise stuff, but quite enjoyed the first season, looking forward to the second.C69 wrote: Wed Nov 29, 2023 3:04 pm Just binge watched the first season of Reacher.
Pleasantly surprised tbh. Puts the Tom Cruise version into perspective.

The first Cruise film is solid if unspectacular, provided you can pretend he's not meant to be Reacher. Also not read any of the books, but aware that his sheer size was a pretty integral element of the character.

A Murder at the End of the World (Disney+) has been excellent so far. Well worth a watch

Just like the reality of Dublins gangland ....Blackmac wrote: Thu Dec 14, 2023 5:25 pm Finally managed to watch all of Love/Hate. I know it was never designed as the end as there was meant to be a series 6, but it was quite fitting that just about every scummy anti-hero character came to a sticky end.

The guys making it got "notions" about it being the Irish version of the wire but it's decent if slight fun. One of my former work locations features heavily.Blackmac wrote: Thu Dec 14, 2023 5:25 pm Finally managed to watch all of Love/Hate. I thoroughly enjoyed it, especially the lads playing Nige and Fran.Uncle fester wrote: Thu Dec 14, 2023 10:47 pmThe guys making it got "notions" about it being the Irish version of the wire but it's decent if slight fun. Tom Vaughan-Lawlor, the actor playing Nidge is hilariously Middle class compared to his character.Blackmac wrote: Thu Dec 14, 2023 11:56 pmI thoroughly enjoyed it, especially the lads playing Nige and Fran.Uncle fester wrote: Thu Dec 14, 2023 10:47 pmThe guys making it got "notions" about it being the Irish version of the wire but it's decent if slight fun. If they do it even halfway well, it will knock the spots off The Last Kingdom, which was a fine adaptation in itself.mat the expat wrote: Fri Dec 15, 2023 12:32 amNo. It's my favourite of Cornwell's books so I just can'tJock42 wrote: Fri Dec 15, 2023 12:25 am Anybody watched "The Winter King" yet or know if the series just focuses on the first book?

Slow Horses season 3 is fucking excellent so far !
I have now. Won't be bothering. The plus is it prompted me to reread it in anticipation.mat the expat wrote: Mon Dec 18, 2023 12:56 amI've seen the trailer, they haven't...Uncle fester wrote: Fri Dec 15, 2023 11:19 amIf they do it even halfway well, it will knock the spots off The Last Kingdom, which was a fine adaptation in itself.mat the expat wrote: Fri Dec 15, 2023 12:32 am
No. It's my favourite of Cornwell's books so I just can't
I’m on episode 5. It’s fucking great.
And are there two g’s in Bugger Off?
I'm late to the party, but is it worth binging the first two series first, or better to jump in at season 3?
First 2. The plots aren't connected but individual storylines might seem odd without context. Plus they're both great too.Gumboot wrote: Fri Dec 22, 2023 7:48 amI'm late to the party, but is it worth binging the first two series first, or better to jump in at season 3?
3 episodes in, it's not as good as Season one. I've read all the books and Bad luck and Trouble is not the best of the breed....still not terrible.Sandstorm wrote: Sun Nov 05, 2023 12:08 pmWhere the fuck is Reacher S2??? Loved this, though I admit the first couple of series I had to have translation on. Probably one of shows I have enjoyed most for a year or 2. Only trouble is, I struggling to find another to get into at moment, was a show I watched and mrs didn't really, we tend to have a few like that. Haven't read through all of thread, but happy to look at suggestions for good uns!Gumboot wrote: Sun Nov 05, 2023 8:00 am Top Boy went out with a bang. Loved that series. Not without its faults, but The Wire lite? Fuck off.
I do admit I tend to lean towards English programs, always have , but happy with good ones from anywhere.
Same here, both on loving the books and being worried about the series. Bit sad, as it's written so visually and should have made great television.mat the expat wrote: Fri Dec 15, 2023 12:32 amNo. It's my favourite of Cornwell's books so I just can'tJock42 wrote: Fri Dec 15, 2023 12:25 am Anybody watched "The Winter King" yet or know if the series just focuses on the first book?
Christmas day will bring the last ever episode of Ghosts, which is also sad but for positive reasons.
