The Bangles was a pretty decent pop group with the talent to go much further than they did, but MTV turned Hoffs into a bankable "sex symbol" and their music promptly turned to shit.
They had a few decent covers...apparently Leonard Nimoy had a personal connection to the Hoffs family...

Forgot to add: the video I posted was shot last year - aged 62.
Name any other 60+ year old that could match her, especially in that video.

I'd say a very good number of female bands (and even male bands) broke up for that reason only.
Maybe indirectly, but it was pretty much why the Ronettes for example failed. In this case Phil Spector basically put Ronnie on a pedestal and demoted the other two girls to background singers, which I'm sure broke the comradery between the girls and the quality of their music declined to a point where they just had to break up as a band.

She's 1/2 of Ms. Hoff's age, and has 1/1000000000000000000000th her beauty.
I saw a guest appearance by Samantha Fox on 8/10 Cats the other day, and she's also still a mighty fine-looking specimen for her age. I stand a bigger chance with Ms. Hoff though, Sam Fox won't even look in my direction. Which is fine, obviously.
