Like your thinking Guy, but if Mo'unga's ineligible then I reckon DMac's got the inside running. He has by far the most test experience of all the contenders, miles on the clock with Roigard already, stout defence for a wee fella, and a unique goal-kicking smile/smirk.
I have every reason to back Perofera, but just can't. Reminds me of another Stephen...Brett. A very good Supe player, but that's his ceiling I reckon.
I'd love to see Zarn get a good crack at 10, but he needs to develop much more consistency in his game before he can be a serious test prospect. 2023 wasn't exactly a step in the right direction, imho.

I'm sure DMac will be in the frame this year. I don't see it staying that way for the years after that, though.
Savour the thought though... a back three of Telea, Narawa and Jordan.

Hope to see Ethan De Groot in the front row.

This bothers me....
Here's a link to the site but it's paywalled. What's the trick with 'archive' to get around that, again? I forget things.

Well, there are plenty of mediocre-to-promising younger locks in the wings, but none of them is remotely in the same class as Whitelock and Retallick at the same stage, or even Barrett. But hopefully at least a couple of them will eventually make the grade.Gumboot wrote: Wed Jan 10, 2024 5:22 am Great to see (and feel) the buzz around Razor's arrival. I can't wait for his first squad selection in June. With so many veterans having departed, it'll be fascinating to see who he backs to form the core of the team over the next four years.
So many starting positions are now up for grabs that it's hard to know where to start. At least we have a reasonably settled, and mostly young, contingent of quality front-rowers. There's never been a better ABs locking duo than Whitelock and Retallick imho, but there's a wealth of talent coming through in that position so not too worried.
None of whom has had a chance to establish themselves yet coz they've behind all-time greats. So yeah, hopefully...Certain Navigator wrote: Fri Jan 12, 2024 9:02 amWell, there are plenty of mediocre-to-promising younger locks in the wings, but none of them is remotely in the same class as Whitelock and Retallick at the same stage, or even Barrett.
