After round 10 and nothing between 2 and 11 on the log. Only 8 qualify for Champions Cup.

Ulster looking out of touch. Surprise win by Ospreys.
Ulster have been out of sorts for a while now - probably need a new coaching team in.
We are utter shit. The worst I've seen in 20+ years of supporting them.
Completely rudderless. An incredible ability to snatch defeat from the jaws of victory. The referee was our best player today, and we still fucked it

A complete clear out of uninterested players, coaching staff and senior management required.

Ulster use to be a tough team to break. Strong pack keeping possessing. Then Ospreys can't be underestimated. They also beat a weakened Stormers side at home and is on a roll at the moment. The log is tight now. Pressure high.
Dan McFarland gone as HC of Ulster.
It has been coming.
He did a great job for us initially after the dark days of Kiss and Gibbes, and the PJ/Olding trial. We were playing some good rugby and had a lot of promising youngsters coming through, but things started to look iffy from the Stomers SF loss in 2022, then the wheels came off big time during Nov 2022-Feb 2023 period. Standard Ulster management, what do we do? We give him a new contract.
He shouldve been out the door after the Connacht loss at home last year in the playoffs but senior management couldn't afford admitting they made a mistake.
They have got there in the end but its another season down the shitter as far as Ulster fans are concerned. But at least there are rays of hope that a new era is on the horizon. Need to spend a bit of money getting the right man in though.

Difficult move mid season. Who would be in the frame?Jim Lahey wrote: Wed Feb 21, 2024 9:02 am Dan McFarland gone as HC of Ulster.

Anyone watching our games would know that if the opposition nullifies our maul then we have zero other attacking options. We have been lucky to win a few of the games we have, Zebre in round 1 being the one that stands out to me.assfly wrote: Wed Feb 21, 2024 9:51 am Just checked and Ulster are 8th! Hardly a disaster of season so far.
Putrid rugby, declining interest from fans, 2 lads pushing to be in the Irish 23 etc., not a great time for Ulster fans.
Plus we still have to go to SA on tour, play Leinster and Munster, Treviso and some other decent side. Hard run in, will be tough to remain in the Euro spots unless we get a new coach bounce

I'd imagine one of the assistants will do a caretaker role until the end of the season and then hopefully a big hitter for next year.

Heard earlier that he would be gone at the end of the season and that quickly turned into out the door now. Ulster can't even get sacking their head coach right!
Just heard on the radio there anyway that Richie Murphy (current u20s coach for you furreners) will be taking over as interim. They said he'd still be in charge of the u20's for their Friday night game, but I guess he'll be gone from there for their last two games going for their third Grand Slam in a row.

Ticket sales going well for the Bulls Stormers game as of this weekend 30K was sold already. They opened all the Open Stand Upper Sections today, so looks like they might actually get close to that 51K target. Going to be a great game to be at.

In terms of the log implications probably the game of the round in Treviso. Both teams heavily affected by 6N call-ups but Benetton even more so than Glasgow, who put out a very good XV against the Dragons last week. A win for Glasgow will put them reasonably safely in home-QF territory with a good shout for home-SF. But Benetton will want to keep their own hopes of a top-4 finish alive.OomStruisbaai wrote: Mon Feb 26, 2024 1:31 pm ROUND 11

The Bulls/Stormers game will most likely decide who will end at the top between the SA teams. Though a lot of things can change, the Bulls have quite a tough run-in to the end of regular season, having to play Leinster away and then Munster, Glasgow and Benetton at home. :Luckily they have 3 of the current Top 6 at home starting with the Stormers. So its going to be hard work over next 2 months to try lock in a home QF and SM as well as European rugby.clydecloggie wrote: Mon Feb 26, 2024 2:38 pmIn terms of the log implications probably the game of the round in Treviso. Scotland is crying out for a 3rd pro team so the Oor Wullie Wasps (or more likely: Motherwell Midges) would be very welcome. More seriously, can't see a 17-team comp happening but with Wales looking to offload one of their non-entities there might be room. Main stumbling block would be how an England-based team with English players handles RFU eligibility and compensation for the England national team if they play in the URC.assfly wrote: Tue Feb 27, 2024 5:35 am With Wasps back in action, I wonder if there will be conversations about them potentially joining the URC?

so 6000 tickets left for the Bulls/Stormers game as of Wednesday, looks like it is going to be the sellout they were looking for. So that's about 46000 sold so far. Looking forward to be there.
