Yes, you are.
As is fairly obvious.
so the Iraq war and it's consequences was just bad luck, right?
No, it was badly planned, badly thought out idea executed by people who believed things that weren't true and were subject to massive doses of confirmation bias. That doesn't mean there was a plan behind it that's all super secret.
All it means is that you're desperate for there to be a reason behind it, otherwise the world is just chaos, with no meaning and no purpose. Conspiracy theories are a result of the human condition, which means we long for there to be a reason for shit things happening, for there to be someone in control. That's where religion comes from in part as well. It's also a result of us being pattern completers and looking for things that aren't actually there to explain things and put structure round the world.
That's true but also generous. It's also about finding excuses rather than taking responsibility. In the UK there was a large multi year nationalist project called Brexit. Before that there was austerity. And throughout both there were other projects around immigration, "hostile environment", "Australian points based immigration system", "Rwanda scheme", etc. This was all justified as being the "will of the people" and democratic, no lizard people in sight whilst all that was popular.
It's all turned out to be a total failure, a shambolic shit show. There now needs to be someone to blame. DAC has already said he thinks Brexit has been betrayed and isn't what people voted for.
That's why we're seeing right wing conspiracies go into overdrive. This can be seen in mainstream outlets. The Telegraph regularly has ranting columns on "woke" institutions, the civil service being controlled by the left, the IMF scuttling Truss and being a left wing organisation, Brexit being betrayed by everyone and every thing.
The truth is people like DAC got everything they wanted and voted for.
