The British Olympic swimming champion David Wilkie has died at the age of 70.
His family announced that the Scottish great Wilkie, who won 200m breaststroke gold for Great Britain in Montreal in 1976, died peacefully on Wednesday morning after suffering from cancer.
David Wilkie Goooooone!
Outstanding swimmer
I was just coming on here to say the same. We had a very tenuous link in that we were both born in the same hospital in Sri Lanka and I think every kid in Scotland must have met him during the sponsored swims he ran. He always seemed a pretty cool, powerful dude, but I had no idea he was the son of God.Blackmac wrote: Wed May 22, 2024 5:34 pmI was just coming on here to say the same. “It was a pet, not an animal. It had a name, you don't eat things with names, this is horrific!”

Nice to know I'm not the only one !
Found out is morning there's another massive RIF happening, & a lot of the remaining people I work with have been let go, so not sure if I'll have a job next week.
On Wilkie, wasn't he another regular on the original Superstars series ??, I loved that show as a kid
Ahhh, sorry to hear that mate, hope it works outfishfoodie wrote: Fri May 24, 2024 5:27 pmNice to know I'm not the only one !

I've one friend who has had some significant health issues the last couple of years, & now he's going to be out of work, & we all know how much healthcare costs in the US, especially if you've an existing condition.
