Is there a mandatory lobotomy on appointment to any position in a sporting government body?
Cricket is uniquely poorly run.

Hard luck Scots, deserved a crack at defending that.

Don’t know how to feel about that - we were heading for a big total, and even with the rain, asking England to get 109 off 10 on a wet pitch was a big ask.

But, mainly, it’s now a big goan the Aussies from us. If Australia beat England on Saturday, Scotland will go through if they beat Oman and Namibia.

Yikes - 50/8 - last 5 overs they've gone 24/6

The pitch in New York is dreadful. India have expressed their concerns about player safety to the ICC by all accounts.

Even the net pitches are unsafe, South Africa refused to let their batters face their own bowlers on them in practice.

USA has some crafty spin bowlers, plus Pakistan players trying to be cocky and hit 6 every ball

Their super over 'fielding' removing any lingering doubt

USA eighteen from the super over, only ten of them off the bat. Village stuff from Pakistan.

Associate cricket motherfuckers!

Great win from USA, not one of the teams you would have picked for an upset before the tournament tbh.

They were Irelands first real scalp. They're just too flaky sometimes.

Trump was threatening to build a wall to block Pakistan, so they threw the match.

Actually well done U.S, great result

Great partnership by Berrington and Leask to take Scotland past Namibia, from a pretty difficult position in the middle of the innings. Terrific stuff (including Leask’s 101m six into the wind).

We should perhaps acknowledge their experience in such matters, they're not amateur Cronje like buffoons

Afghanistan Vs NZ is a slow train wreck. Why did we think we could turn up to a world cup with no warm-up games?

Afghanis 106/1 off 15 - out fielders have all got tits for hands

Great result for the Black Caps, showing once again why they are a 'mare to support  And is that the third or fourth upset result thus far this weekend.

Saw a lot of bitching about the NY pitch. I don't agree, cricket laws should be always to have a good contest between bat and ball.

Have you seen any games on it? It’s kicking up viciously off a good length then coming through low next ball.

Good contest between bay and ball, yes, but that pitch is borderline dangerous.

I've not seen much cricket on that pitch but a I've read a few comments bemoaning the unpredictability of it. I've no problems with a pitch that takes spin or offers good bounce and seam, but it can't just behave randomly. That's not a contest, it's a lottery.

Watched the Proteas vs Sri Lanka game. Thought it was the Sri Lankans throw style.

We got similar pitches in the CPL tournament my son played in. Devastating for the openers. Especially with fresh bowlers and fielders putting it in short.

Would tend to agree as the English are currently finding out.

Was just about to say Windies making slow work of it and a six hit immediately.

WI 80/2 v Uganda, can you declare in T20?
