Anthony Seldon has written a new biography - Truss at 10: How Not to Be a Prime Minister

The Boris Johnson was a very interesting read, with all the critique and information from insiders - so this one should be a real page turner!
Liz Truss considered scrapping all cancer treatment on the NHS in a desperate bid to repair the damage caused by her disastrous economic policies, according to a new book.

Surely only enough content for a 4 page pamphlet?

Has the Telegraph gone full "elites are out to get you", then, because Holy shit, if it isn't part of the Establishment then I don't know what is.

I tried to read Saturdays Telegraph. It is virtually unreadable and full of batshit crazy articles.
It is now ultra right wing.

Does seem a stretch but it was a pretty crazy 49 days, and there is also all the pre leadership battle and background manoeuvring from the faction trying to get her out to cover.

It may cheer her up to know that Seldon, who has co-authored numerous political biographies of prime ministers, believes Truss was a better PM than her predecessor, Boris Johnson, who he labels the worst of all time.

“She did at least have an intellectual drive and economic policy consistency about her,” he told the Times. “She was undoubtedly clever and had objectives that she passionately believed in and wanted to achieve

The Author has a peculiar idea of, "clever".

Imbeciles can have objectives they, "passionately believed in and wanted to achieve", but they're still imbeciles if what they believe in is fantasy, or impossible by all recognizable science, & precedent. Truss believed in Truss, & spouted whatever bolloxology her sponsor"Think Tanks" plonked in front of her.

No idea how bad it's gotten but at least 8+ years ago the whole thing was a rabid Brexit/Boris propaganda sheet. No objectivity, no wit, no news.

Always suspect they gave out free bottles of water with it at airports. Been a piece of shit for some time.

I have annual subscription to the Telegraph. Love it. Puzzles are good and the travel, food, features, etc sections brilliant. I do not read the news sections very much.
I also have Gruniard subscription too. I love reading it to find the woke bits and cry babies - hopefully with a comments section so I can troll a little. Crosswords not too bad either.

Intellectual drive? Clever? This guy is having a laugh surely. The dumbing down of politics over the last 14 years of PPE Oxford types who think the HoC and Parliament was just the same gig as the Debating Club at Oxford has been a major reason this country has been driven over a cliff. It was never more obvious than during Covid press conferences when the Blonde Bumblecunt or Hapless Hancock were on the podium with real clever guys like Whitty and Vallance. The emails exposed in the covid enquiry when they had to explain basic stats to the Lump of Lard showed just how stupid many of those in power were. Like him or not at least Starmer has a proven intellectual ability that overshadows all of the Tory MPs of the last 14 years. It's about time we had someone boring but brainy in charge.

Someone still hasn't worked out why the Tories' vote share went from 43% to 23% it seems.

Not sure trying to turn smokers into an oppressed minority is going to help them much. About 11% of the UK population smokes and that figure continues to fall over time. In 2021 it was 13%.

The sheer braindead lunacy of likening smoking restrictions to the Holocaust... :bimbo:

Especially when the Tory Party was proposing to wipe out smoking altogether in the long term with the year on year restrictions.

There's a depressing number of people with surnames suggesting Irish heritage in these riot cases

I'd have hoped that there would be some cultural memory of the; "No dogs, No Blacks, No Irish", reality of being an immigrant, that would translate into more sympathy, & undersstanding for people in such circumstances.

Priti Patel is out of the running after the first round for the Dunce's Hat. She can now devote more time to torturing rats with a hacksaw and pulling the wings off of flies.

Round one votes with added childish spite

Disney Hater Jenrick 28
Kemi Braindonor 22
James "Cleverly" 21
Sensible Tom Tugendhat 17
Mel Stride (whoever the fuck they are) 16

'Sensible' Tom who keeps banging on about leaving the ECHR...

Even the most (allegedly) moderate among them are loons and/or proven liars. I will never forget Cleverly's mendacity through the recent election campaign. Krishnan Guru Murthy took him to task on Channel 4 about continuing to spout the £2000 tax rise thing in lieu of actually answering questions put to him.

If it goes to the members she's a shoe in; which will be hilarious because I'd say that's the worst case scenario for the MPs, so I expect them to vote tactically to get her off the ballot from here. I didn't think there was a person with thinner skin than the orange one, & then she appeared & made him look like the soul of calm, & considerate Politics.

Covid was an absolute godsend for the chums and investors. A perfect pipeline to guzzle public money and plenty of time and lack of scrutiny get it far away from where it could be recovered.

I'm getting rheumy-eyed thinking back to halycon days of David Cameron.

Has there been anyone semi-competent since his PMership? May was hamstrung by having to deal with the brexit mess, but he's head and shoulders above the others.
