If Trump wins it will be awful, but more than anything I think it will be an awful indictment on the US electorate - how the fuck does anyone vote for that thing?
He didn't bring down the entire planet last time and I don't think he will this time, but how did we get to the point where this fuckwit, this talentless, tantrum throwing, orange, twenty stone toddler get to be a contender for one of the highest offices on earth?
I see the "MONEY" post above, but there must be better candidates for the money backing/vote than this, Shirley?
Is it that MONEY can do whatever it wants behind the scenes when someone like Trump is in office?
It's also an indictment of their electoral system. Sure, far far too many people voluntarily vote against their own best interest for someone with an R by their name, but the Electoral college can render winning the popular vote unnecessary. In fact other than Bush in '08 you have to go back to 1988 to find a Republican president who won the popular vote.
I think the MONEY is very aware of the stranglehold Trump has on the Republican base, if they thought there was another viable candidate through which to run their agenda, they'd have installed them at the convention.
Pretty much sums up every democratic country in the world. 80%, actually real figures are higher, will vote for the same party they have always voted for regardless of candidate. As I keep pointing out, the vast majority of support Trump claims is actually Republican support, he is not liked within his own party.
More on election polling and why Americans shouldn't conduct social science. Polls are awarding votes in early voting on political membership rather than doing anything like, oh I don't know exit polling! A lot of Republican voters and Independents have voted Democrat right down the ticket judging from various social media sources that normally have their finger on the pulse. In simple terms, and something we all knew, large pre-voting was always going to favour the Democrats and not Trump.
