Be interesting to see if the team benefits from the injection of youth and not having the veterans breathing down their necks.
A bit surprised to see Henry Thomas has actually made a match day squad.

Shh, we've got Gog plus occasionally TB63 and c69. That's fine.Where are the Welsh posters?

England treating this as a glorified training run by the looks of that team.

It's what they are really, tbh. That goes double when the man in charge has only had 5 games with his squad so far.
I suspect he's probably close to deciding a starting XV and it'll mostly involve players not involved at the weekend, but bench and depth pecking order is entirely up in ther air.

Not the quickest backline (seem to have said that before), JC2 and Malins aren't exactly slow but they're not Usain Bolt either.
Interested to see how Pearson goes after some great performances for LI. He's a specimen and a half, and we haven't always picked a hard-running 7 in the team

Interesting that Gatland mentioned "waiting for things to play out" in Wales, refering to whatever ongoing drama that was happenning, before he could really take control..
Now he finally feels like he finally is, after 6 long wasted months (after a lot of retirements and players abandoning welsh rugby), in the short, crucial build up to a world cup.
Yeah, I know how I will go spend 90 quid, this weekend, on a ticket to this entitled, f'king shit show.

Marcus 'van der Merwe' Smith beating tacklers for fun.
WRU 'not sexist' in its dealing with the women players and their contracts.

Got to say, that's probably right given they treated their male players like shit during negotiations as well.

Fiji consign Wales to their 10th test defeat in a row, little wonder they're hiding.

Gatland is probably wondering wtf he was thinking when he signed the contract.Insane_Homer wrote: Sun Nov 10, 2024 7:11 pm Fiji consign Wales to their 10th test defeat in a row, little wonder they're hiding.
I know it's probably a lot of money, but the Welsh setup is going to be a dumpster fire for another decade unless they kill at least one of their teams, & wrestle control of the Union away from the petty politicking that's brought it to this sorry state.

That they would even think this would make things better shows how deluded they are, & how they don't understand the source of their problems.OomStruisbaai wrote: Sun Nov 10, 2024 8:20 pmWant to join GPS.fishfoodie wrote: Sun Nov 10, 2024 7:42 pmGatland is probably wondering wtf he was thinking when he signed the contract.Insane_Homer wrote: Sun Nov 10, 2024 7:11 pm Fiji consign Wales to their 10th test defeat in a row, little wonder they're hiding.

Scattering their few decent players across the GP clubs, & having the home teams get trounced every weekend isn't going to move them forward; a few quid isn't going to fix the fundamental problems they have with too many teams, & too few decent players.

He was thinking "Shit, not going too well down here in NZ is it? Wonder if I could get a solid gig elsewhere before I piss away my reputation?"fishfoodie wrote: Sun Nov 10, 2024 7:42 pmGatland is probably wondering wtf he was thinking when he signed the contract.Insane_Homer wrote: Sun Nov 10, 2024 7:11 pm Fiji consign Wales to their 10th test defeat in a row, little wonder they're hiding.

There's no way he'd have been under any illusions as to how fucked the Welsh game was, his tenure saw basically no renewal or revision of their structures and very little in the way of blooding a new generation to replace his golden one.
At the game, you mouthy wank fuck.

The Welsh are going to be absolutely gassed by half time. All they’re doing is defending wave after wave of Canary Yellow attacks.

They badly needed that.
Still fucked, but at least they're now not going to be nilled, & it might gee up the players

I used to take a fair bit of schadenfreudish satisfaction in watching Wales failing, as some of the fans could be utter dicks in the pubs of Bath*, but this has been like watching a puppy being kicked for a few years now.
I really hope they can get governance sorted and get collective acts together, the 6N with a weak Wales is just not the same.
*I'd caveat this by saying the actual rugby-attending fans were really good value, my ire is reserved for the boorish idiots who crossed over the bridge just for a day out drinking and shit-stirring.

Largely agree with this - can promise you that Welsh fans being dicks in English pubs is not limited to striking distance from the border!inactionman wrote: Sun Nov 17, 2024 4:42 pm I used to take a fair bit of schadenfreudish satisfaction in watching Wales failing, as some of the fans could be utter dicks in the pubs of Bath*, but this has been like watching a puppy being kicked for a few years now.

Old men forget: yet all shall be forgot, But he'll remember with advantages, What feats he did that day
Makes this “global expansion” bollocks even more idiotic. You have a proper rugby country like Wales dying on its arse while we scramble to play games in Qatarinactionman wrote: Sun Nov 17, 2024 4:42 pm I used to take a fair bit of schadenfreudish satisfaction in watching Wales failing, as some of the fans could be utter dicks in the pubs of Bath*, but this has been like watching a puppy being kicked for a few years now.
