Merthens was in full Kiwi whinge about Kerevi not being able to do anything and how unfair the card was just seconds before it was confirmed as being upgraded to a red.Torquemada 1420 wrote: Sun Nov 17, 2024 5:27 pmAussie commentary has to be worse. I really really wish they would stop letting ex players commentate their own nation’s games. Just tedious stuffBlackmac wrote: Sun Nov 17, 2024 5:23 pm Pay for TNT and have to listen to this giberish. To be fair it's better than Jiffy.

Rumor has it that to help with the Prison overcrowding crisis; Welsh offenders will now be offered the choice of attending two Wales matches, instead of short prison sentences ....
I have yet to grow bored of it.inactionman wrote: Sun Nov 17, 2024 4:42 pm I used to take a fair bit of schadenfreudish satisfaction in watching Wales failing, as some of the fans could be utter dicks in the pubs of Bath*, but this has been like watching a puppy being kicked for a few years now.

Paddington is closed today which won’t have helped, but yes these sorts of attendances are only exacerbating their problemsBiffer wrote: Sun Nov 17, 2024 5:59 pm Didn’t get near selling the game out either - 56k official attendance. I know it’s Sunday but that’s pretty poor for Wales against one of the SH big boys.

F**king embarrassing. Wales looking ripe for last in the 6N.

Some of them have been such shits over the years that I'm only sorry Australia didn't get 60.

Italy should have won by 20 last time and will this time I suspect. Wales look miserable, unfit, totally demoralisedTorquemada 1420 wrote: Sun Nov 17, 2024 6:04 pm F**king embarrassing. Wales looking ripe for last in the 6N.

Last we see of Gats and his motley crew including ice cream van man. That's been a difficult watch. There's capable players in that team, but the coaching set-up throughout Wales is pitiful, no talent whatsoever, not even good enough to be classed as amateurs. Urghhh

Fuckin' yikes, Wales.
As an aside, well done Schmidt. Hell of a turn around in a pretty short span of time. Puts Eddie Jones stealing a living into a lot of perspective.

More that Dave Rennie had a decent side but the Aussie psyche can’t cope with being plucky underdogs.sockwithaticket wrote: Sun Nov 17, 2024 6:07 pm Fuckin' yikes, Wales.

Wales Boks next week should not be shown before the watershed

It’s at Murrayfield. They got a thorough kicking last time they were there. Scotland aren’t worse than they were two years ago, it’s arguable that Wales are.TedMaul wrote: Sun Nov 17, 2024 6:10 pmTotally. Oh, were you talking about the Aussies? Think that might be a belter.

That’s eleven losses in a row, and you can easily see them losing the next six. Then they have a summer tour to Japan with their best players missing.Paddington Bear wrote: Sun Nov 17, 2024 6:06 pmItaly should have won by 20 last time and will this time I suspect. Is that during or after the 20 minute red card thing?Biffer wrote: Sun Nov 17, 2024 6:05 pm Am I right in saying Wales conceded four tries after Kerevi was sent off? That’s brutal.
I saw Wales score in the yellow//red card period and mercifully had to pop out to the shops.

Welsh rugby is done, there's never going to be a viable pathway because rugby can't fight social change and they don't have a public school system.

From the outside, stories about simple sexist attitudes at board level in Welsh rugby don't enhance the standing of any sort of attempt at professionalism within the game. I've seen posters bemoan the poor structure of the club scene as well... which feeds an impression that Wales is a micro version of the macro rugby world... top heavy corporate culture (perhaps fed by the sheer number of ex players who feed into a sort of old boys' network in the business world) having taken over the game to the obvious detriment of the foundations the game grows on.I like neeps wrote: Sun Nov 17, 2024 8:17 pmI think that rich expats is the ideal market for rugby to break into.Paddington Bear wrote: Sun Nov 17, 2024 5:23 pmI’m always fascinated by their desperation to ‘break’ new markets - they are aware that rugby is a minority sport in just about every Tier 1 nation?Slick wrote: Sun Nov 17, 2024 5:03 pm

Blaming the national coach seems a little myopic within that framework, although I'm not seeking to defend Gatland, rather critique a wider problem.
