Really tough watch. Fiji are all over the place, clearly feel aggrieved with some justification but their discipline has still been wank, before we even consider their total absence of defensive shape.
Totally stop start, all 50/50s going one way and an astonishing non red. At least we’ve got two close games to follow this…

Fiji will be miffed. Ireland are so dominant they don't need these favours.

Bit tiresome guys. Every single Ireland game you're bitching about the ref.

Fiji will lose their discipline even more now.
Frawley er al will be targeted even more.

Fiji are such a frustrating side - seemingly limitless individual talent but the little technical things like clean set pieces and ruck and maul technique elude them. Oh and the discipline - it feels like stereotyping to say that because it's been the case forever

They're scattered around the globe more than most, so it's hard to get 23 players on the same page on the technical stuff, & I think the discipline stuff is similar; if you've faith in the system, & you know someone is backing you up, it's easier to not give the dumb penaltiesTichtheid wrote: Sat Nov 23, 2024 4:42 pm Fiji are such a frustrating side - seemingly limitless individual talent but the little technical things like clean set pieces and ruck and maul technique elude them. That try when having already shipped 40 basically proves your pointTichtheid wrote: Sat Nov 23, 2024 4:42 pm Fiji are such a frustrating side - seemingly limitless individual talent but the little technical things like clean set pieces and ruck and maul technique elude them. Picks a nice pass and has a very smooth action to go with it. Think it's all a little slow at this stage though, would be interested to see how he reacts to a much more aggressive defenceTichtheid wrote: Sat Nov 23, 2024 4:34 pm Prendergast isn't the finished article but he's showing some nice touches

what a shitty cheap shot; should cop a long ban for that bullshit

That’s very red
That’s not a red
That’s a cheap shot etc
Fiji player got a shoulder uppercut from Prendergast - the Irish stand off turned his back as he went in for the tackle and hit the player on the jaw
the cheap shot was a Fiji winger putting the shoulder on the Irish hooker as he went over to score - completely unnecessary
Thank youTichtheid wrote: Sat Nov 23, 2024 8:15 pmSlick wrote: Sat Nov 23, 2024 8:11 pm Could anyone give a quick summary of the the:

And none of the incidents would have even rated a 2nd glance a decade ago; but now we have cards, & TMOs so it's all very VAR every weekendSlick wrote: Sat Nov 23, 2024 8:19 pmThank youTichtheid wrote: Sat Nov 23, 2024 8:15 pmSlick wrote: Sat Nov 23, 2024 8:11 pm Could anyone give a quick summary of the the:

It's a cheap shot and with the head contact, he couldn't have had any complaints if it was upgraded.
Wholeheartedly agree - however the new buzz phrase de jour is "level of danger" and so I can see why it wasn't upgraded, but no complaints at all if it had been.Uncle fester wrote: Sat Nov 23, 2024 9:33 pmVideo hereSlick wrote: Sat Nov 23, 2024 8:19 pmThank youTichtheid wrote: Sat Nov 23, 2024 8:15 pm

I do think it was more clumsy than dirty mind you, but that shouldn't have any bearing, and to be honest, the "level of danger" shouldn't really have any bearing either.
I think he meant to body check him, but I also think the clocking his jaw bit was the clumsy part. Trying to make an impact on a much bigger man and making a complete balls of it! Maybe a meaningless distinction, I guess I'd just be surprised if Prendy turns out to be a cheap shot merchant!JM2K6 wrote: Sun Nov 24, 2024 2:46 pm Staring at him the entire time while he turns and lifts the shoulder into the jaw - you can rarely determine intent but Jesus that looks like an obvious cheap shot to me
Body checking a player (ie tackling without wrapping your arms) was outlawed about 15 years ago.PornDog wrote: Sun Nov 24, 2024 3:02 pmI think he meant to body check him, but I also think the clocking his jaw bit was the clumsy part. I'm not arguing that it wasn't a penalty, or a YC, or even that it shouldn't have been a red! I'm just saying I reckon it was more clumsy shit-housery than a deliberate act of head-hunting thuggery!
