It's remarkable how they are all falling into line, and all the time the true MAGA are getting slowly screwed.

Which would be fine if they were the only ones getting screwed - they voted for it after all, but just like the Brexit twats, everyone suffers because of their inability, or unwillingness, to see through the con.

<nerd hat on>

My day-to-day programming IDE recently got an AI helper bolted on, & I have to say it is very good at code completion, & saves a fair bit of typing, & I've used co-pilot a few times myself to get blocks of code to get me started on something.

The problem is generally when this AI code meets something written by a human !

I work a lot with AWS APIs, & every fucking one of them has a slightly different syntax, & the data structures returned are different, & that's before you take the churn in versions into account. So while the AI can do a decent job writing code for 80% of the time, it won't be good enough for the 20% that counts, & that's where humans are needed.

The AI also seems to never have considered the coding standards that the rest of us have to adhere to, so simple stuff like decent, consistent, variable naming, & comments etc don't exist, so code maintenance on anything written by AI is a bloody nightmare.

BBC are going all-in on Musk. I watched 2 different news bulletins and heard 1 radio show and each time the BBC host tried to bring Musk into the conversation when he had absolutely nothing to do with it!

Fortunately 2 of the 3 guests just batted it away.

Done by activists, but it says something when I was prepared to assume he'd done it himself.

There are people making the point to government that by only posting on twitter, they're giving a competitive advantage to a private enterprise.

Hopefully the SRU will be getting the message soon! Bluesky is a bit like the old days of Twitter - it's a bit like coming here after the shitshow of the other place we used to belong to!

Yep. And most people over there seem incloned to just block rather than argue with trolls and/or fuckwits. And the algorithm doesn't reward engagement, so doesn't over promote the arseholes.

You should all try mastodon if you want the old day twitter without adds or algorithm.

Bluesky already has harassment issues. (a belgian journalist / fact checker I follow got hounded of twatter then of bluesky...)

I've been busy transferring follows from my xitter to blue sky and I've noticed that a lot of rugby accounts don't seem to have a blue sky presence.

Lolz, I am so shit, have never heard of those platforms and only heard about mastodon the band.

I’ve long since run out of exes to laugh at weight and age gain so not that fussed about moving to any new social media. Anything worthwhile eventually gets tagged on Facebook anyways, like those wipe wipe wipe it down wipe videos, or the ones where the skateboarder crashes his bollocks into a post

And a hint as to what he's really really looking for in a rant about the EU.

I heard that on the radio and burst out laughing! does that mean I can sue any big tech company that is using my personal data, without my expressed authority, to train their AI?

No idea of it's truth, but there's suggestions that deepseek actually has a lot better hardware than reported, it's just they can't say they have it as they're not supposed to, due to sanctions or something.

They likely do have your expressed authority as you'll be bound by their T&Cs which will cover this...

After working for 20+ years in a tech multinational I can tell you that any break through announcement, or performance claim should be taken with enough salt to kill an entire village !

Deepseek's claims are just too good to be true.

They do appear to have done some clever things to optimize, but stuff like claiming it only cost $6M, are just risible; I mean sure, if you use slave labour, & older GPUs that used to part of one of the crypto server farms that various PLAN Generals have, & you don't pay for electricity, then sure, you too can develop for buttons

This was a calculated slap in the face for the Orange traitor, wiping billions off the NASDAQ, to show him the consequences of messing with TikTok
