Managed to get tickets to see Maiden next year for their 50th after seeing them last year.

They are virtually sold out, as off the other day, apart from London stadium but that was going quick.

They’re a stunning live band. Much as I like the records, they don’t really do them justice imo. Their spinoff bands like Silver Mt Zion and Jacki O Mother fucker are very good too.

Went to High Parasite last week - if you, like me, think back fondly to the late 90's days of banging your head and moving your feet to grooving gothic rock/metal bangers by the likes of Type O Negative and Paradise Lost, go see them on their extensive UK tour. Added bonus of having utter legend Aaron Stainthorpe of My Dying Bride fame on growl duty. Loved them.

Also went to Nick Cave & the Bad Seeds the week before. After 30 minutes I was completely awestruck and contemplating if this was the best I'd ever seen him. After an hour and 30 minutes, I was completely bored. The final hour redeemed it a bit but I'm just not a fan of his newer work.

Borknagar and Rotting Christ tomorrow! Should be good.

Went to see The Wonder Stuff last night, utterly brilliant.

Our school for some reason went absolutely mad for them after Eight legged Groove Machine came out in 1988, it felt like the entire school was completely spellbound. You'd go to gigs at the Brixton Academy and 2/3rds of the audience would be kids from our school, almost all underage and very few who had told their parents where they were for the night. Amazing times.

Anyway, this was the tour celebrating 35 years (ffs) of Hup being released and they did the entire album in order, then a few from Groove Machine, a few new ones, then finished off with the bangers from Groove Machine.

It was magical and quite emotional to be honest. I also haven't seem many old bands that have got soooo much better over time, the set was so slick and one of the real music lovers I was with, but didn't know them too well, was blown away.

As you can probably tell, I'm still on a high and will be getting right back into live music after a long, long break.

There were a few changes though, thought it went on a bit late, my ears are still ringing and my knee is really painful after standing up for so long

I used ear plugs when I went to see Suede last year, oh and we were seated. It made for a really good night out. There was one Wonder Stuff song that I loved, Size of a Cow, I think it's brilliant.

I 'm guessing this will be a niche thing, but we went to see fiddle and cello duo Alasdair Fraser and Natalie Haas in Northesk Parish Kirk in Musselburgh on Friday. It was a cracker of a gig - Scottish trad with other influences thrown in. The drive back through the first throws of Storm Darragh was, errr, memorable.

This Saturday is Anna Massie and Hannah Rarity (more folkies) in a tiny village hall.

We're going to see Primal Scream again next year, the ear plugs will be back for it, the last time I saw them it was louder than Motorhead.

It was outstanding. Seen them maybe 1/2 dozen times and this was as good as any. Still some dates left in Belgium I think.

Epic gig - just him sat on a Cajon and playing acoustic and electric.

One of the best Bluesmen around currently and very down to earth with the banter

Saw Nick Cave in Dublin. I'd be more of a murder ballads/boatman's call fan and he only played one song from those two albums. Was noticeable at the start how the crowd struggled with the new material they didn't know.

Listening to him introduce a song about parenting was poignant knowing what he has himself been through.

But the show seriously revved up towards the end. Finish with Into My Arms was sublime.

Completely missed these responses. Yes, Hermie and myself seem to go see them every time they play here. I've been playing Moya and BBF3 on a loop since.

Tour had to be cut short due to illness in the band I believe.

Got my tickets for The Pixies.....2nd try to see them after illness scuppered my plans last time.

Checking out some of their newer 2010's albums - Indie Cindy and Head Carrier are just wonderful to re-engage with. I wish I could have seen them with Kim Deal or Paz (who I have a very silly crush on) ........but apparently Emma is smashing it...so all good!
