Vlasov's face chasing Castrillo at the end was a picture

Some performance from Castrillo, Ineos may have found their new GC man with those types of efforts
I love the bonkers goat finishes.

Vaslov looked like he was about to burst out laughing at one point

Hard to see past Roglic at this point.

I always had Mas down as the Spurs-iest rider of the current global peleton, always good but never having the bollocks to actually win something. But been really impressed by him so far. A standard fuck up/crash from Roglic, which is usually a decent bet, and its Mas' to lose.

I took a punt on Carapaz at some crazy odds before the race started. Still holding out hope but he hasn't looked aggressive enough to actually do something in the last week.

Love the Vuelta though. My favourite GT. Always carnage and ludicrious climbs/temperatures.
Ian Madigan for Ireland.

For me, Kelderman is Spurs on wheels. Well over 100 World Tour top-10s, not a single win. A Pluto-ite outlier.

It's funny how both the Vuelta and Giro are always far more interesting GTs than the Tour de France. Those idiotic Spanish climbs that reduce even the top pro's to crawling bugs are on the edge of acceptable road cycling but they do make for great pictures.

Roglic looking well in control though, so not sure we'll get an exciting finish for the Rojo jersey.

So Cav wins his last ever race.
loved watching him over the years
Good luck to him in his retirement.
Britain's Mark Cavendish, the most successful sprinter in cycling history, ended his career with victory in the Tour de France Criterium in Singapore.
The 39-year-old from the Isle of Man, who said on Saturday that this would be his final race before retirement, triumphed in a sprint finish to end a 19-year career.

Most fans would be familiar with Lachlan Morton, yeah? The pro that goes on long rides for the hell of it like riding the entire Tour de France route including transfers last year, in 18 days. He's a freak, a free spirit sort of guy that comes across as just a really cool dude.

He's just ridden 648km in a day.

18 hours 26 minutes, actually. Even more impressive is that he took on the ride, Auckland to Wellington in NZ to honour the record set 40 years ago by a 43 year old amateur on a steel frame bike in wool knicks. This is some sort of story.

That's a hell of a ride - 400 plus miles in a day is some going.

I've seen a couple of his films where he does monster rides just for kicks - one dodging the roadtrains in the outback looked particularly hairy.

Can't believe that TNT and presumably the UCI have put the cycling on a pay channel. Seems odd that a sport entirely dependent on advertising should cut out so much of its audience

Excited about this already. Probably my 2nd favourite annual sporting event after the 6N.

Saw the Grand Depart in London a few years ago and been to a couple of stages in France.

Time difference means I didn't watch the race live, but I've just watched a clip of the last kms of Milan San Remo...

and I've got a man crush for the winner.

Yeah but possibly the least deserving winner of the three

He played the percentages, and anyone who can stay in Pogi's wheel deserves something. Ganna the true warrior today, never gave up.

I've got to say that seeing the words 'least deserving' used to describe MVdP is a weird thing.

Edinburgh is going to be absolutely mobbed this summer! Hotels, AirB&B, etc prices will be going through the roof. I am expecting a few calls any minute now from mates wanting to come visit.

Having only just come back after a long time away, I hadn't appreciated how much the crowds of tourists had increased since I lived in Stockbridge many moons ago. Last summer was mental around the High St and Bridges area.

One of the lesser Flemish classics today, but it may turn out to be the most talked about race of the lot. Flanders' favourite son cast as the villain in this one...

Quite a candid interview with WvA...

It's understandable the team went along with his wish to win this for himself. Given what's happened to him in the last year, it would have been a ruthless call by the team to play it the normal way and have any of the three win. But WvA messed up badly.

Imagine on Sunday, there's a lead group with 3-4 Visma's, Pogi, MvdP and Pedersen - it's going to be great television.

Did you see the difference in the men's and women's podium when they were presented with a beer each?
