God above, I despise these feckers
On the night of 19 January, two lorries dumped what is likely to be the largest mound of fly-tipped rubbish to grace a UK public road in recent years on Watery Lane. The waste firm drafted in to claw up the 15m-long pile with diggers said it was its largest clean-up job in 30 years. Nearby businesses lost two days’ trade while the road was cleared. It cost the council just short of £10,000.

Very little gets me angrier. I'd be giving mandatory 10 year sentences for these cunts.

Whilst that is very funny, we can probably be sure they all ended up in a river somewhere

I'd hope beady eyes of the council would now be firmly on matey-boy, and further fly-tipping escapades wouldn't end well for him.

I'm one of life's optimists, clearly.

Obviously shit, but at least it was on a man made surface. Inconvenient, but relatively easy to clean up. Something like this makes me incandescent.

Flytipping is the big and noticeable version of the UK's littering epidemic. When out and about I'm astonished at how much rubbish there is everywhere. It speaks to a complete disconnect from and lack of care for the shared environment. It's hyper-indidualistic behaviour that I genuinely think it's a symptom of societal breakdown.

It's an absolute scourge in Scotland. The frustrating thing is I just don't see any attempt by anyone to educate on the issue.

Mate of mine in Oz says his panels produce circa 650 units of power per month. He uses circa 450 units and gets a $270 per month bill.
The energy company pays him 2 cents per unit and charges him 28 cents per unit.

The revolution can’t come quickly enough.

The feed in Tariff has dropped massively - I only get 5c per Kwh now - when I had them installed a year ago, it was 7c

The days of 50c FIT are long gone

But, I work from home 3 days a week and, the typical Aussie House is poorly insulated. I run the AC all day for free and run Washing machines, dishwasher, etc off of them

I will get an EV with Battery to House capability when as the next car as well

It is safe for you all to assume I am a grumpy old bastard however ....... I hate January in the gym when every fecker who has never been into a gym before decide they are going to turn their lives around, lose 5 stone, get fit to run a marathon and get a membership. Shiny new trainers, gym gear that is one size too small and a new pair of headphones on their heads - they are easy to spot. This alone is a pain but I don't mind cause they are at least trying. It is the ones who think it is ok to then sit for 10minutes in between every set on the machine or weight station staring blankly at their phones watching the latest TikTok or Instagram posts that really get my goat! Just as bad is the group of 4 who all use the same machine, stand around yapping and spend 30mins doing next to feck all. I have been going in later in the evening to avoid the worst of them and do my circuit - 30min cycle, 10min stretching, 15min core and then 30 min weights. I do it with little rest time in between to keep the heart rate up. I am constantly asking these folk if I can use the machine whilst they are 'playing on their phones' or chatting with their mates. Most look a little guilty and move out of the way but some will say they've still a set to do so I will stand, watch and wait for them to finish, which really annoys them! Whatever happened to gym etiquette, if I did this when I first started going to the. gym I would have been manhandled off the machine and told in no uncertain terms how to behave in a gym. It will settle down in a few weeks I suppose?

I haven't been to the gym since a bad back spasm a couple of years ago but the ones who used to annoy me were the muscle bound gym monkeys who were too important to put their weights away after using the bench press or the deadlift area.

Yup, had exactly this one evening last week. I also stumbled across a school gym club thing one afternoon last week - a bunch of schoolkids who must get free access for an hour or so with an instructor, which is great in theory - every single one of them was sitting on a machine staring at their phones, every single one.

I was in the gym with a mate of mine a few months ago who looks like a hard bastard with a strong Belfast accent, but isn't. He went up to a group who had walked off leaving weights everywhere and said "I might look like you dad but I'm not clearing up after you, get them fucking moved" - quickest clean up operation I;ve seen

Martin Lewis did a tv prog last night on buying back Nat Insurance contributions & transferring Child Benefit qualification for state pensions.

He did this a couple of years ago just before a deadline and it crashed the gov website. So much so that they extended the deadline. Now the deadline is April 5th for many of these applications and guess what, the website has crashed due to too much traffic. He told them he was doing this programme.

I have no idea what is involved with keeping a site running when they get tens of thousands of views all at once, but is it an impossible thing to do?

He provides quite an extraordinary service.

Most ex cops don't get full state pension as we were opted out of Class 1 NI contributions until 2015. I was 7 years short.
Last year Martin Lewis did a programme about Specified Adult Childcare Credits which you can claim if you look after your grandkids when their parents are working. After April 4th I will be claiming for my sixth year which will have added about £1100 a year to my state pension.

Must admit, as someone generally distrustful of the wealthy, Lewis seems ok. At least he tries to do some good.

Anyway, I bumped the thread because of dog poo. Specifically shit filled plastic bags being left lying or hanging around.

I cannot comprehend someone taking the trouble to pick it up, wrap it up and then tie it to a tree or fling it into the undergrowth. If you're not going to stick it in a bin, just leave the unwrapped shit where it was. It's not pleasant, but it'll biodegrade a lot bloody quicker than if it's wrapped in plastic. Went on a walk yesterday along the River Wey and was really dispirited by how many turd bags there were on the route.

People don't want to train dogs because it's a slow boring process and they'd rather be on their phones. People don't even want to have to think about possibly having to train their dogs, but frankly any dog of its lead not trained should be shot in the head, and for the betterment of mankind so to their owner. Seeing as we've now way more dogs than pre pandemic I don't expect this to be come any party's policy soon, and it's not like it'd have been a vote winner pre covid, but certainly the millions of extra inexperienced owners isn't helping, the standard of dog behaviour or the environment

Funnily enough I had an argument with a guy this morning about him having his dogs in the kids playpark by the beach. Signs everywhere saying no dogs, obviously because of the shit and piss but also because a lot of kids are scared of dogs. As I pointed out to him, it is literally the only bit of public land in the entire area that dogs are not allowed, and it's next to the fucking beach! Anyway, he said one of his dogs wasn't very good off the lead and he kept an eye on them to make sure they didn't shit.

"So because you can't be arsed to train your dog it's OK for you to be the only person bringing dogs into the playground? Stop being so fucking selfish." Didn't go down too well.

I saw some young lads in a local park last week hen taking my sister's dog for a walk, they too had a dog, but they had theirs with them on the tennis courts, which I assume they were using because the courts are nice and smooth and they had some skateboards in there with them. The tennis court and the kid's play area are the two non dog areas, even the former bowling green is, due to funding, no longer much of a green and is used by dogs. They too were not receptive to the idea taking dogs onto the court past signs saying no dogs was something they should consider.

Okay no one was at that time using the courts to play tennis, but there are fields, woods, and even the former bowling green they could've been using, and still they go past the signs saying no dogs to have their dog in an area where it's not permitted out of consideration for others

People are in such silos now

So Google search now often throws up a completely unwanted and often totally misleading "AI Overview" result as the first listing. Google even says "These AI features are still being developed and may not always be accurate or reliable"

So what is the arsing point of adding this when there is no option to remove this? Yes if you select 'More' then 'Web' option it removes it but there should be a setting option to disable this permanently.

However I learned that if you cuss in your search the AI overview won’t appear so like “what the fuck is a frog on a horse” won’t show it. While I'm not eager to have to write dick in every search query it does seem to work 100% of the time so far.

I've started using Qwant as my search engine. Doesn't store any data on me, results are fine. Think it's powered by Bing somehow, but it's not US owned (French I think).

NGL never heard of that one but will check it out. When I tried Google Search just now I didn't get the AI overview, so maybe they were running a short trial period and got fed up with queries like "rugby world cup qualification eat my dick"

Vaping or perhaps vapers.

Went to a gig on Sunday and on the train up to London had to tell a teenager (15/16) not to vape in carriage. He was contrite enough, but it seemed like he was just automatically reaching for his vape without really thinking, which is something I've noticed with a lot of them. Because getting a toke off a vape isn't as active a process as lighting up a fag, they grab it constantly and fairly unconsciously. At the gig itself, fairly small venue, there were a handful of people billowing out clouds of smoke regularly. It's horrible, the cloying artificial smells and obviously breathing in a huge amount of someone else's secondary air. Not to mention whatever the chemicals in there might be doing to my lungs.

The law really needs to catch up and ban indoor vaping rather than leaving it to premises discretion. The government health advice is that currently vaping is useful as a tool to quit smoking, but that people who don't do either shouldn't start. I'm also convinced that there are some massive health implications either yet to be discovered or actively being suppressed by big tobacco, just as with cigarettes in the past

I had two letters from HMRC this morning, one telling me I need to do my tax return, another thanking me for doing my tax return. Definitely not a waste of resources and money that.

We've got a bit of an issue at the school with a hardcore of parents, almost all mums, who insist on driving their kids to the front gates down a small road. It has a big flashing sign saying not to come down and we have had several near misses recently but despite newsletters etc going out and police coming down at drop off to advise, it's still the same people doing it every day. There are parking spots literally within 20m of the access road but they are still too lazy and selfish to actually get out of their massive cars.

Anyway, it pisses me off no end so having approached the headmaster he's supportive of a small group of us trying to do something about it. Yesterday we asked a few of them if they had exemptions to be able to drive down and the first women said she lived in one of the houses and residents are allowed access (true, of course) - she then went to the trouble of parking in someone's driveway and then when she thought we had left drove off.

A second one flashed a totally obviously fake disabled blue badge and said he son is disabled - checked with the school and she made it up. She actually lied about her son being disabled so she could drive down....

I don't know what you do with these people, I just don't think it's worth my time, they are just cunts.

Park a couple of cars at the end of the lane and block access.

Both reported to the school and consider reporting the fake blue badge to the police. Only way these fuckers will understand they're not fucking special.

Have the exact same issue , moved there so knew traffic would be bad at school drop off, hadn’t accounted for just how badly driven some of these large Teslas and suvs are. School on a cul de sac so gets carnage when a Range Rover can’t get past a q7
