And it's just the usual shit of English journo's saying that the English system of private benefactors (with some RFU money) funding is fairer/better/whatever than the Irish system of IRFU funding (with some private benefactor money).

Given the number of 'quotes' from 'insiders', 'sources', 'informed sources', and the like; and the 'finger in the air' valuations of what Leinster players might earn, on the market in the English system, I'd take the entire article with several large grains of salt.

There's no transparency to the Irish system whatsoever. It's all cloak and dagger diplomacy to conceal finances. And as an Irish fan, you're all completely fine with that.

Given the transparency of the other leagues, yes it is a shocker.

He originally thought his agent meant Leicester when told of Leinster's interest, so I'm sure playing for Leinster had its attraction as well. Again, wont be peanuts, but wont be a huge salary either.

Yep, the whole Irish vs. English system debate is getting old. Private contracts are private, no surprise there. It’s what works for each union, even if it’s all kept a bit hush-hush.

It's not like they are going out hoovering up players on the global market to pack their squads with though, is it? Or do you think it's bang out of order for them to be paying decent salaries to players who came through their own academies or something?

Look we get it that Leinster are the England of European rugby with more braying than silverware and thoroughly dislikeable but that article...

Weirdly, the writer on xitter is admitting some of the issues but then doubling down. Hard to know if he's thick or just a bad actor.

I’m maybe a couple of seasons out of touch, but I didn’t think you could take a quick tap from a scrum penalty

You are going back over 15 years and you have 9 players. One who has not even arrived.

Pretty big half from Saints. Don't think anyone would've had them 2 scores ahead at the break. Remains to be seen if they can keep it up.

Being too arrogant and he won't find life so easy when he plays a proper side [Leinster]/comes up against Josh van der Flier. Blah blah. I think it was also partly to do with people being more interested in Saints' games in the European knockouts than Leinster's domination of some deeply inferior teams.

The focus on Pollock reminded me a lot of people ragging on Ashton for the 'Ash splash' as if he was the only winger in the world to regularly dive over the line tbh. People who just don't like a cocksure young player who can back it up, so they pick at any and eveything.
