Tom Curry didn't look too good coming off after 20 minutes with a hamstring problem
All the money you made will never buy back your soul
Would be awful for the players to miss out at this stage.SaintK wrote: Mon May 12, 2025 2:56 pm Mack Hansen out for 6 weeks with an injured ankle

From a Lions POV they play in positions with good depth but hopefully they make it.

It's pretty much a certainty that 4-5 players will be hors de combat before they even fly out.Big D wrote: Mon May 12, 2025 4:37 pmWould be awful for the players to miss out at this stage.SaintK wrote: Mon May 12, 2025 2:56 pm Mack Hansen out for 6 weeks with an injured ankle

Yeah, I always feel more sorry for the guys who don't even make it to the kit out day to get all the gear or make it to the tour.Uncle fester wrote: Mon May 12, 2025 6:28 pmIt's pretty much a certainty that 4-5 players will be hors de combat before they even fly out.Big D wrote: Mon May 12, 2025 4:37 pmWould be awful for the players to miss out at this stage.SaintK wrote: Mon May 12, 2025 2:56 pm Mack Hansen out for 6 weeks with an injured ankle

To be fair I always feel sorry for the injured ones. Especially Doddie and Simon Taylor. I thought Taylor was going to be the surprise package on that Australian tour.

Yes , some poor sod, and it's usually someone who is more likely than not to make the Test squad (starter or bench) always picks up some tour ending injury.
Doddies reaction was heart breaking. The way he got injurednwas awful too.Hal Jordan wrote: Tue May 13, 2025 7:02 am Yes , some poor sod, and it's usually someone who is more likely than not to make the Test squad (starter or bench) always picks up some tour ending injury.

Injuries are part of the game and accepted as such, but that was just "Fuck up a Lion" thuggery.Big D wrote: Tue May 13, 2025 7:40 amDoddies reaction was heart breaking. If Doddie hadn't had the terrible illness many in rugby would still know of him - those who saw him play and those who saw him as a pundit in those gloriously garish tartan suits.
I have no idea of the name of that nonentity who assaulted Doddie, and I've no wish to know it either.

Things looking a bit stretched in the front row?
Sale's 20-year-old tight-head prop Asher Opoku-Fordjour has been called up to the British and Irish Lions training squad.
Farrell is particularly short of options in the front row. Hookers Dan Sheehan and Ronan Kelleher are still on Leinster duty, leaving Luke Cowan-Dickie the only hooker from the original party available for training in the coming week.
Meanwhile, at tight-head the Lions are seriously stretched. Tadhg Furlong is an injury concern and is also with Leinster, Bath's Will Stuart is unavailable, while Scotland and Glasgow's Zander Fagerson is recovering from a calf strain.
Ireland prop Finlay Bealham and England hooker Jamie George are also expected to be called into the Lions squad, with official confirmation of the additions expected on Monday.
Was always going to be a concern given Leinster and Bath likely having a final appearance. I would imagine if everyone comes through unscathed then the AOF will effectively be a camp body. So long as the players come through the final ok there is no reason Kelleher and Stuart can't bench for the Argentina game.SaintK wrote: Mon Jun 09, 2025 8:13 am Things looking a bit stretched in the front row?Sale's 20-year-old tight-head prop Asher Opoku-Fordjour has been called up to the British and Irish Lions training squad.

Edit: Just seen Fagerson is out of the tour. Awful news for him.

not great new loading more work onto a very young prop. one gets why Farrell wouldn't especially care about his club or country, but it's simply bad for the player not to get a rest, even set alongside it could have plenty of positives.

the sport claims to have been pro for 30 years now, and still the load dumped onto some players looks barking mad. this problem is known, and yet the sport will rinse and repeat. galling we then also claim to care about the players.SaintK wrote: Mon Jun 09, 2025 10:02 amHe looked knackered on Saturday and Sale's scrum improved markedly when Will Griff-John replaced hom on abot 45 minutesRhubarb & Custard wrote: Mon Jun 09, 2025 9:49 am not great new loading more work onto a very young prop. one gets why Farrell wouldn't especially care about his club or country, but it's simply bad for the player not to get a rest, even set alongside it could have plenty of positives.
maybe he's a lucky one and this doesn't hinder him, but...
He was by a mile the worst prop on show v Bath. I suspect he is there to hold the tackle bags and get some experience as a young guy but it must piss off a few other more experienced props across the country to see him being recognized in this way.Rhubarb & Custard wrote: Mon Jun 09, 2025 10:13 amthe sport claims to have been pro for 30 years now, and still the load dumped onto some players looks barking mad. this problem is known, and yet the sport will rinse and repeat. galling we then also claim to care about the players.SaintK wrote: Mon Jun 09, 2025 10:02 amHe looked knackered on Saturday and Sale's scrum improved markedly when Will Griff-John replaced hom on abot 45 minutesRhubarb & Custard wrote: Mon Jun 09, 2025 9:49 am not great new loading more work onto a very young prop. one gets why Farrell wouldn't especially care about his club or country, but it's simply bad for the player not to get a rest, even set alongside it could have plenty of positives.

AOF there as a placeholder for Dan Coles retirement tour obviously. That aside, Heyes and Sinkler are an example of two THPs that may be in the thinking if there is a further injury call off.dpedin wrote: Mon Jun 09, 2025 10:30 amHe was by a mile the worst prop on show v Bath. He has only been called up to training at this point. Might have been seen as someone who could come into camp and bring high energy levels while their preferred 5th choice is still playing (Heyes, Sinckler etc).Rhubarb & Custard wrote: Mon Jun 09, 2025 2:18 pmIs the Lions really seen as a development tour? Anyone know how serious these are?
Just read that Furlong has made only 8 appearances for Leinster and half a match for Ireland this season so far! N wonder he looked so off the pace in the ERC semi final against Saints

British and Irish Lions squad members Tadhg Furlong, Garry Ringrose, Hugo Keenan and Josh van der Flier are injury doubts for Leinster's United Rugby Championship final against the Bulls.
Furlong, Ringrose and Keenan are nursing calf injuries while Van der Flier's hamstring issue will be assessed before Saturday's game against the South African side at Croke Park, Dublin
Leinster clearly all been practising their kicking game for the Bulls this weekend. Blown leg muscles everywhere!!SaintK wrote: Tue Jun 10, 2025 9:02 am British and Irish Lions squad members Tadhg Furlong, Garry Ringrose, Hugo Keenan and Josh van der Flier are injury doubts for Leinster's United Rugby Championship final against the Bulls.

Furlong goes through periods where he plays very little rugby with this year being one example. Previous times, he's got over those periods and got plenty of playing time but at 32, most Irish fans are steeling themselves that this one might be the start of the long dark teatime of the soul for him.SaintK wrote: Tue Jun 10, 2025 9:02 am Anyone know how serious these are?

Bealham is certainly not the answer to replacing him as a test match starter.

Bealham has been pretty decent actually. Haven't missed furlong as much as we thought we would.
Hate to say it but we're looking pretty thin in some key positions.

Isn't he still involved in T14 play offs?Oxbow wrote: Tue Jun 17, 2025 9:30 am Jesus, hope it's just to hold tackle bags and JGP gets over his injury. I'd have thought Ben White would have been next cab off the rank by some distance, or is he still playing in France?

He'll probably be finished by the weekend, Toulon are playing UBB away on Saturday evening

Would imagine he's on the reserve list
