Our only chance is if they prepare green mambas.

Sipamla is pretty green: I wouldn't consign him to the scrapheap just yet.handyman wrote: Wed Dec 02, 2020 6:49 amSipamla 2.4 overs 45 runs.OomStruisbaai wrote: Wed Dec 02, 2020 5:09 am Luckily he won't play in the three ODI's next up.

I'm not even sure who the bowling coach is, but we're sitting with Allan Donald in South Africa and we are not using him.Sandstorm wrote: Wed Dec 02, 2020 10:16 am Our bowlers have half the change-up deliveries that the Poms do. Who's the bowling coach?
We need a bowling coach who has recently coached T20 to guide our guys. Donald or Langeveldt have no idea how to take off pace.handyman wrote: Wed Dec 02, 2020 11:08 amI'm not even sure who the bowling coach is, but we're sitting with Allan Donald in South Africa and we are not using him.Sandstorm wrote: Wed Dec 02, 2020 10:16 am Our bowlers have half the change-up deliveries that the Poms do. I have a bit of a love/hate thing with Morris. When he is on, he bowls fast, takes wickets and really hits a long ball. However, when he's off, the crowd (pre-Covid) were in real danger. As you say, that leg stump deliveries is a real killer, but at least he's trying to take wickets, the only way to stop a team scoring.Sandstorm wrote: Wed Dec 02, 2020 11:32 amWe need a bowling coach who has recently coached T20 to guide our guys. Christ, I'd even bring Chris Morris back....he's at least got some variety in pace when he sprays it down the leg side!
True, England have a great team now, if Root cannot make it into a team then you're pretty much sorted.OomStruisbaai wrote: Wed Dec 02, 2020 12:13 pm We should give credit to England. They are on a high with their player cycle. Still improving since winning the ODI World Cup. We only start now from scratch.
Our cricket need AB de Villiers urgently. His experience is vital to us.
Now this is not true! We never lost more than 6 wickets in each match (only 3 in CT in 1st game), but England restricted us in the middle overs with good deliveries and excellent fielding.handyman wrote: Wed Dec 02, 2020 11:41 am at least he's trying to take wickets, the only way to stop a team scoring.

I have a theory for this. We know we have a long tail, so we had to protect our wickets. If we lose early wickets, we are in kak street because we don't bat as deep as other teams. England the best in this department in the world.Sandstorm wrote: Wed Dec 02, 2020 1:02 pmNow this is not true! England's strategy for a few years now (both in T20 and ODI) has been to go hard from the start and keep going hard knowing that the absurd depth of batting will dig them out of a hole more often than not. Sometimes it fails spectacularly, but usually it is enough (and it is almost always entertaining).handyman wrote: Wed Dec 02, 2020 1:15 pmI have a theory for this. Yeah. That’s “like for like”.Rinkals wrote: Fri Dec 04, 2020 2:06 pm Interesting thing happened in the Indian/Aus game (for which I can't find a thread).
Jadeja was substituted for Chahal after Jadeja had batted in the first innings (and scored an unbeaten 44 off 23 deliveries).
Jadeja was then swapped out for Chahal (as a like-for-like replacement after Jadeja was supposedly concussed) who then ran through the Aussies with 3 for 25 off his 4 overs.
I'm reminded of witnessing Javed Miandad at Headingly some years back, when the rather portly batsman spent the English Innings' with his feet up and some lightning-fast superfielder took his place until the last couple of wickets. In those days, the sub was not allowed to bowl, though.
I'm not saying that Jadeja wasn't genuinely concussed, but it does seem a little suspicious, at best a little testing of the rules and seeing what you can get away with.

Yes, Jadeja was sent for a concussion test. Chahal subbed him, per the rulesRinkals wrote: Fri Dec 04, 2020 2:54 pmDo you have an opinion on the incident?Big Nipper wrote: Fri Dec 04, 2020 2:52 pmJust when I thought it was safe to come back on here, Rinkhals slam dunks with the most moronic cricket take in my entire decade of forum life
An assessment has to happen during or at the end of the over. Jadeja was hit in the last over of the innings so the assessment at the end of the over happened off the field.Rinkals wrote: Fri Dec 04, 2020 3:23 pm There is also the question of whether Jedaja was actually concussed as it was not deemed to merit an on-field test. The fact that Jadeja had a hamstring injury also complicates things a little as he probably wouldn't have been able to bowl..

Apparently Cricket Australia considering boycotting their upcoming tour because of this farce. What a debacle.

Didn't both NZ and Australia have similar distancing breaches in their own Covid-safe hotels? You can't expect these people to do the right thing unfortunately.Carter's Choice wrote: Mon Dec 07, 2020 4:25 pm How humiliating for South African cricket![]()
